Chapter 49: Was I talking to you?

Michael's POV

We drove around for 4 hours trying to find Kara but there's was no sign of her. Every second felt like an hour and I started getting a bad feeling, like something may have happened to her. Ashton was on the phone with Cassie the entire time we were looking for her. The sun was starting to set and we were all growing tired because of the amount of stress and we eventually all went back to Ashton's house.

"Michael, it's going to be alright." Luke says and I felt a hand come to my back as I was crying into my hands. "She'll come home soon and she'll have to understand." Luke tells me softly. I let out a shaky breath. 

We started watching movies most of the night, waiting for Kara to come home. I took my phone out my pocket and turned on my phone, seeing Kara as my lockscreen. The time read: 12:15am. I sighed. 

I might as well try to call her again since the guys are pretty much asleep. I thought to myself as I unlocked my phone and went to Kara's contact and called her. She didn't answer and it went to voicemail.

"Hey Kara it's me again... obviously. I want you to know that you are the most important thing in my life. You're the reason I do everything. When I get up in the morning, I feel so grateful for every second I have with you. You give my life meaning, you give my days such joy, you are the reason I smile. I want you, no I need you being with me, I need you to face the great unknown with me. Your love is everything to me. I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. I'm so sorry. I know I hurt you. I hope you can forgive me when you're ready." I say softly. I hung up. I placed my phone back down and broke down into tears again.

Ashton's POV

I listened to Michael leave a voicemail for Kara and felt even more frustrated. After a few minutes I slowly let myself fall asleep until someone burst in through the front door causing the guys and I to jolt up. Then a girl with short green hair walked in with tall guy with brown hair who looked very familiar.

"K-Kara!?" I say as I stood up and walked over. She turned around and looked at me.

"Oh hi -hic!- Ashton!" Kara slurred. I could basically smell the alcohol radiating off of her. 

"What did you do to yourself?" I ask. 

"I changed, do you -hic!- like it? I wasn't -hic!- good enough to be with him." She replies pointing at Michael.

"Kara, I never-" Michael starts.

"Was I talking to you!?" Kara snaps, glaring at Michael. It then fell silent in the room. I looked at Michael and he looked like a kitten who's been kicked too many times. Seeing him like that was enough to make me even more mad.

"Have you been drinking!? Kara you're underage!" I felt myself grow angrier. Kara then started bursting into fits of laughter. 

Yup, she's drunk. I rolled my eyes. 

"Oh! Ash this is -hic!- Adin, babe this is my brother Ashton!" Kara slurs.

"Wait, what?" I ask looking at Adin. "Y-you're Adin!?" I ask. Adin smirked and I saw a dark look in his eyes that didn't sit right with me one bit. "Kara what the hell are you doing with him!?"

"Hey!" Kara yells. "You should -hic!- shut your trash mouth!" Kara then turned to Adin and kissed his cheek before she walked upstairs. I took a step towards Adin, keeping eye contact with him.

"I think it's better if you just walk away." I say lowly.

"I'm here for Kara, not to waste my time on some low life like you." Adin replies. I balled my hand into a fist and was about to throw a punch but I heard Kara walking down the stairs. I looked over at her and she had a bag with her.

"Kara, you're not leaving." I tell her.

"Fuck... off Ashton, you're not -hic!- my mum!" Kara yells. 

"Let's get outta here baby, don't waste your breath on them." Adin says as he wrapped an arm around Kara's waist. I looked at Kara's eyes. I couldn't see the real Kara anymore, it was like she just let herself go. I let her do this, this is my fault.

"Kara," I whisper. "This isn't you." I say and felt tears come to my eyes. She rolled her eyes at me and walked out with Adin...
