Chapter 48: Breathe, we'll find her

Ashton's POV

I was actually shocked when Michael said her name was Chloe and has dark hair and blue eyes. I remember when she tried to separate Cassie and I a few years ago. Cassie has been my girl since she was 15 and I was 17, I do call her my baby every now and then, I gave her that nickname because she helped me get out of the dark and I helped her too. I'm pretty pissed right now that she actually went that far to break Michael and Kara up. They are meant for each other, I've never seen Michael that happy with someone.

(Flashback)

I walked down the hallway of the high school to my locker to put my books away. I don't know why people say Junior year is so hard, it's actually pretty easy. 

"Ashton! Hey Ashton!" I heard someone calling my name. I closed my locker and saw one of my friends, named Mason.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"Is it true that Cassie actually slept with multiple guys at this school and is in a gang ?" Mason asks.

"W-what!? No, none of that is true. Where did this come from?" I say feeling anger build up.

"All the freshman are talking about it since Cassie is a freshman." Mason tells me. "Some girl named Chloe Farner started telling people that." I quickly went to the front of the school and multiple freshman came up to me to ask if it was true and I replied 'no'. I walked around and looked for Cassie but couldn't find her. I went back in the school and roamed the empty hallways. I turned into a hallway and saw the familiar long hair of Cassie. She was sitting on the floor, crying into her knees while leaning against the lockers.

"Cass!" I say. I rushed over to her. I sat next to her on the floor, I put my arm around her and she flinched. "Cassie, it's okay it's just me." I say softly. She looked up at me, her hazel/green eyes brighter due to the tears that were filling them.

"Ash, y-you don't believe them d-do you?" Her voice soft. I can't stand to see her like this.

"Of course I don't." I say as I brought her in my arms and hugged her tightly, not wanting to ever let her go. "I know for a fact that none of that is true. You barely talk to anyone so that shows you didn't sleep with multiple guys. And you're too sweet to be in a gang." I say honestly. She let out a shaky breath.

"I thought you were gonna break up with me." She whispers.

"I would never." I reply. "I'll never leave you, nor will I ever stop loving you – No matter what." I loosened my grip on her and she looked up at me. I saw a smile grow on her face. I brought my hand to her cheek and wiped her tears away with my thumb. She leaned up and met our lips in a soft kiss.

(End of Flashback)

Luke, Calum, and I all called Kara multiple times but she wouldn't answer and she sent us straight to voicemail.

"I'm going to call Cassie and see if Kara's with her." I say as I pulled out my phone. "Luke, Cal, you two should probably call Ella and Faith." I tell them and they both nodded. I went to Cassie's contact and started calling her.

"Hey Ash!" Cassie answers.

"Hey babe, is Kara with you by any chance?" I reply.

"N-no, I dropped her off earlier." She tells me. "Why?" 

"Oh uh... just something happened and Kara ran out."

"What happened?" She asks, I could hear the curiosity in her voice.

"Um... do you remember Chloe Farner?" 

"Yeah, that girl who tried to break us up?"

"Yes, her. Anyway she came to our party last night, she got Michael drunk and slept with him and he told Kara what happened and she ran out."

"That bitch." I heard Cassie whisper.

"We're trying to call Kara but she won't answer her damn phone." I say.

"Ash, breathe we'll find her."

"I can't! What if something happens to her!? I just got my sister back!" I panic.

"Ash." She says softly. "Listen to me, she is your sister so therefore, she's just as strong as you are. You are her only brother and I know she wouldn't do anything to hurt you. We'll find her, I promise." She tells me. I took a couple deep breaths. I don't know how but hearing Cassie's voice always calms me down. "Okay?"

"Okay." I reply letting out a breath. 

"I'm going to help you look for her." She tells me. "I'll pick up Ella and Faith again. Where do you want us to look?" 

"Um... look for her at her favorite places, she has to be at one of them." I reply.

"Okay, positive thinking Ash, I love you." 

"I love you too." I say and hung up. I went over to where Cal, Luke, and Mike who were all in the living room. "Any luck?" I ask and both Luke and Cal shook their heads with scared looks on their faces. "Cassie's going to pick up Ella and Faith so they can help look for her." I tell them. "Let's go drive around and see if we can find her."
