Carnage // P.P (2)

Chapter 24

Freya sat on one of the benches by the lake. It had been a couple of hours since she left the lab and she needed space away from everyone so she decided to stay by the lake while they discussed the situation since she's no longer a part of it.

Natasha stared at Tony as he explained as to why Freya left the compound "I told you you should've spoke to her about it before we agreed to anything"

Tony pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration "You think I don't know that?"

Natasha rolled her eyes and grabbed her jacket that was laying on one of the chairs. Tony lifted his head and watched as she walked out of the room "Where are you going?"

Natasha threw her jacket on and glared at Tony "To find her"

Freya wrapped her arms around herself tightly as the cold air started to hit.  She wished she grabbed a jacket on her way out but in her haste to remove herself before she did something or said something she'd regret she didn't think much to grab one.

Natasha made her way over to the lake knowing that was where Freya had gone. Natasha has noticed whenever Freya became stressed or angry she'd take herself to the lake and would normally stay there until she was calm.

Natasha moved quietly towards the blonde girl and sat on the bench next to her. Freya knew that Natasha was sat there but stayed silent as she looked out at the lake.

Natasha watched Freya with a frown on her face and decided to break the silence "Don't be angry at Tony, he's doing what he think is right"

Freya shook her head but didn't speak. She was tired of people not trusting her.

Natasha sighed when she got no response and tried again "If you want to be angry at anyone be angry at me"

Freya finally made eye contact with Natasha "Why should I?"

Natasha looked down at her hands "I made the suggestion to have you not join the group going to get the tesseract"

Freya stared at her friend in disbelief "Why would you do that?"

Natasha sighed and felt the tears welling up in her eyes. Freya is one of the only people who Natasha is comfortable around showing her emotions "Because Tony isn't the only one afraid of losing you"

Freya couldn't be angry at Natasha no matter how hard she tried. Freya moved closer to Natasha and grabbed her hand and giving it a squeeze "Why are you so against me going? I don't get it, I can handle myself"

Natasha shook her head and sniffed "You can't go because, the year we are going is the year hydra got involved"

Freya connected the dots and her eyes widened as she let go of her hand "You know who took me, don't you?" Freya never found out who exactly took her from the lab the day her parents died. They were all wearing masks so she was unable to identify them but there was one man who didn't and it made sense why Natasha was weary about Freya seeing them.

Natasha bit her lip and nodded "I found out in Lagos and I didn't want to burden you when we found you. All I'm saying is that they will be there and if they see you and recognise you, it could end badly for you"

Freya stared at Natasha, not knowing what to feel at the moment "Why did you keep something like that from me?"

Natasha grew nervous at the look that was growing in Freya's eyes, something she hadn't seen in awhile "The last time you went looking for Hydra you weren't yourself, you weren't in the right state of mind. I couldn't tell you who did it because once I do you will go and find them, I know you. I know you've been through hell and back and you think the only way it will end is if you find whoever decided to turn you into what they created"

Freya shuffled back and sighed in defeat and looked down at her hands "But why agree with the other stones, why can't I go get them?"

Natasha hesitated to say what they all agreed knowing that Freya would be in denial as she would want to prove herself "You may not want to admit it but you're not handling Peter being gone as well as you thought"

Freya opened her mouth the protest but Natasha shook her head "Don't deny it because we've all been watching you. You've been having nightmares at least once a month but you don't remember them. You lose a little control while we're training. You're still having tests done five years later because you're still scared"

Freya stared at her friend as it started to hit her. She hated to admit it but she's been in denial, believing she was fine as she wanted to prove to everyone that she could do it on her own but she's definitely still struggling.

"You don't t believe I can do it?" Natasha shook her head and grabbed Freya's hand "We just don't want to lose this side of you, we almost did when we went after Thanos and if keeping you here will guarantee that you're still here then we'll do it"

Freya sighed and squeezed Natasha's hand "Okay I'll stay but under one condition" Natasha looked at her confused "What condition?"

"You tell me who kidnapped me" Natasha sighed and shook her head "No I'm not doing that"

Freya let go of her hand and stood up "Then I'm going with you"

Natasha took a deep breath and stood up "Okay you have a deal"
