Chapter 37

Freya sat up against the bed frame while Peter slept. After everyone left they went to her room where they sat there and talked mostly about what Peter had missed. However Freya did miss some things out as she didn't want to scare him or make him sad since he was adjusting to being back.

After some time Peter had fallen asleep. Freya smiled when she looked down at her lap when she heard the soft snores and removed her hand from his hair but an adorable frown made its way onto his face as once her hand was removed.

Freya chuckled lightly but started to play with his hair again. Freya glanced at the clock seeing it was nearing two in the morning but she wasn't feeling tired. She had spent the past few days in bed so sleep was the last thing on her mind.

Freya leant down and placed a kiss on Peter's head before trying to get up from under him. Once Freya had managed to remove herself from under his weight she moved the covers over him and turned the light off before she left the room.

She walked down the dark hallway and down the stairs and towards the kitchen to get a drink. She brought the glass to her lips but before she drank from it her gaze landed on her fathers office.

She placed the glass down on the counter and slowly walked towards the room. She hadn't stepped into the room since they got back. She tried but she couldn't even open the door without wanting to cry.

She took a deep breath before opening the door only to be met with a mess. Tony had scattered papers everywhere and files left open before he rushed to help the team with the Quantum Tunnel.

Freya slowly walked towards the desk and sat down in the chair in front of it. She looked at the littered pieces of paper across the desk which held information on quantum physics.

Freya leant back against the chair and stared at a framed photo he had on the desk. It was a photo of the two of them together that Pepper had taken at their wedding.

Freya picked it up and a small smile graced her lips. Freya had no idea that Tony had the photo in his office.

Freya placed the frame back where it was and started to pick up the papers that were all over the desk. Once she had them all picked up she opened the top draw to place them in but an envelope with her name written in Tony's handwriting caught her eye.

Freya dropped the papers back on the desk and picked up the envelope with shaky hands. She sat back down on the chair and stared at the envelope in her hands. Freya knew he had left a message for Pepper before he joined them at the compound just in case and Freya knew that this was left by Tony for only her to find.

Freya finally gained the courage and opened the envelope and started to read the letter but once she started the tears had already started to fall.

If you are reading this then something had happened during our quest for the stones. I've already left a message for Pepper and Morgan before I left but I wanted to write one to you as I was never able to say what I needed to say directly.

No matter what happens, no matter the outcome I'm so proud of you. I'm proud of how far you have come, how you faced your demons and became a better version of yourself.

And most of all I'm proud to have you as my daughter.

One of the best decisions I ever made was making you apart of this family. You have brought us all together after I thought I messed everything up but most importantly you taught me to not give up.

I know Peter told you about him being your anchor. It was true. From the start Peter was the one who helped keep your emotions in control but over the past year I have noticed how more in control you have been and over time I realised that maybe Peter was your anchor before but you're your own anchor now.

I know it's going to be hard for you but promise me you won't lose yourself and I know it probably doesn't feel like it but in time you will be happy. You deserve it more than anyone.
