Chapter Twenty-Two

One month ago since the day I spoke with Eric at the company. I haven't seen him in the business community after that. Then I remembered the last word I mentioned to him.

"If you don't want to love me back please don't mess with me and show yourself, The hardship of moving on about us is turned on!"

I immediately wiped the tears from my sad eyes when
Mellisa came in.

"How's your daddy?" I was looking for something to work so she wouldn't find me crying.

"Maayos na po, Nakalabas na siya ng Hospital. Marami pong salamat sa tulong!" umupo siya. "That's what I want to say Ms. Wood. Nais ko po sanang magresign nalang po muna!"

I stayed being silent.

"Matanda narin po kasi ang Nanay at Tatay kailangan na ng mag-aalaga. I'm just the only child they have na hindi nag-Manila so it's my responsibility to look after them,"

"I understand Mellisa, But will you really signing up? Tutal kompleto ka naman sa gamit, You can also work at my company even when you're at home using the internet,"

"Really, Ms. Wood?" kinuha niya ang resignation letter na kanina'y inilahad sakin. I saw a glimpse in her eyes. "Maraming salamat po. Hulog ka ng langit!"

I smiled at her reaction.  It was priceless.

"You have helped this company too so you should never let go!” I smiled sweetly.

I stood up hoping to shake hands with her when I felt the dizziness.

"Ms. Wood are you okay? Namumutla ka ah!"

Hinilot ko ang aking sentido. Umamba siyang daluhan ako pero pinigilan ko siya.

"I'm okay, Kulang lang yata ako sa tulog kagabi, Wag mo na akong alalahanin,"

"Sige po!"

She never stopped being grateful until she was outside. I immediately called the head supervisor of the company's finance management before saying my plan. This is not a problem because I am the president of the company and they know that my plans have a good outcome.

No doubt the supervisor said yes. She immediately work and processed my order.

As I rest my body Dad calls.

"Your grandmother is gone, Sweetie. Hindi na kinaya ng katawan niyang lumaban pa. Your Mama Lola Elsie, surrendered!"

Nangatog ang mga tuhod ko sa aking narinig. Kahit man nakaupo ako pakiramdam ko hindi ko na kaya pang tumayo ulit.

Mama Lola Elsie was my closest and favorite grandmother I'd ever had. She's the mother of Dad. She spoiled me when I was a kid. She everything happy with her life before not until grandlolo died because of cancer. Simula noon palagi na siyang tulala sa kanyang kwarto. Kung hindi rin man ay naninigarilyo siya causing her lungs na masira. And that causes her to have lung cancer.

"Punta ka na rito!" Hagulhol ni Dad na pakiusap.

"Yes Dad!"

Tinapos ko muna ang aking iyak bago tumungo sa hospital.

I ask, why did this happen to us? Why was it that all the people who needed to suffer were still chosen?

I also told my assistant secretary that I would be leaving first and if anyone would like to have a meeting and appointed with me.

"Please move it when I'm free," I voiced out.

"Noted, Ms. Wood!" Ariana chuckled.

I just continue walking. Kuya Dante our personal driver is ready for me to open the door.
