Warning: Forced practice, getting bruises, and some swear words.

You were walking past the gym, about to lock up for the day when you saw the lights on in the gym with some faint noises.

That's strange, everyone should be gone by now.

Your parents worked late and didn't trust you by yourself at home when they found the door unlocked a couple of times and when you almost burned down the house. So your only option you had was to help the teachers until your parents could get back home.

And even then, you still stayed later than the teachers, making it so you had to lock up the gates of the school. You didn't have any other keys, but the ones to open the gates and to one of the classrooms that you could stay and do whatever.

You poked your head through the open doors, watching one player run back and forth and eventually collapsing onto the floor from fatigue.

"Hey, are you okay?" You walked in, watching the boy quickly look at you and went to get up, trying to muster a grin.

"Yeah, I'm great. What are you doing here?" The boy asked, making his way towards his bag and drinking from his water bottle.

"I'm supposed to lock up the school. Why are you still here? Didn't practice end a couple of hours ago?" You asked with curiosity, leaning on the door frame. The boy nodded, glancing towards the clock on the wall.

"Yeah, it did. I'm just uh practicing by myself," the libero said, scratching the back of his neck as he looked towards you.

For hours?   You thought, biting the inside of your mouth.

You slowly nodded, casting him a weird glance. You only saw the boy in some of your classes and his loud voice, but that was about it.

"Uh right."

He tilted his head at you and a small smile made his way onto his lips.

"Who are you?"

You raised an eyebrow at him but answered nevertheless.

"L/N Y/N. You?"

"Nishinoya Yuu, but call me Noya."

You nodded and watched him get back up, picking up a volleyball from the basket as if he was going to continue practicing.

"You're still gonna practice? Shouldn't you go home?" You asked with furrowed brows as you pushed off the frame and started walking towards the sweating boy.

"Uh yeah, I was going to do that right now," He said, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. Sure you didn't know him too well, but you could tell the obvious lie which made you even more confused.

"Yeah, you go do that."

There was silence for a bit as you stared at all the volleyball around the place and then back to the shorty.

He's not going to, is he?

You sighed and started walking towards the forgotten volleyball, picking them up.

"What are you doing?" Noya asked, watching you pick up the volleyball that he's received several times that day.

"I'm cleaning up. I think it's time for you to go home," You said, emptying the volleyballs into the basket and then continuing your actions. You heard Noya sigh and started to help you clean up the mess he made.

You guys worked in silence since you didn't know each other and he was pretty tired.

"Hey, you go home, you look pretty tired. I'll finish cleaning up and then I'll lock up." You waved the tired boy, noticing how his legs wobbled as he walked.

"But-"

"Don't bother protesting, I don't wanna carry you back home and then try to explain this to your parents," You slightly joked as Noya let out an airy laughed and nodded at you, getting his bag. He grabbed for his water bottle but put it back down when he realized it was empty.

"Here, take mine."

You threw your almost full water bottle at the boy, him catching it and downing the whole thing.

"Thanks."

You nodded and started tieing down the nets.

"Are you sure-"

"Yes, I'm sure. Now go before you pass out," You urged with a gentle smile as you shooed him off. He nodded and walked out of the gym with a final wave.

Strange.

It's been a week from that day and you passed the gym once again to lock up the gates.

"God damn it!"

You jumped in surprise at the outburst, then noticing the lights on the gym. You heard a somewhat loud 'bam' from the gym which made you run up the stairs and walk through the doors.

"Noya-san? Are you okay?" You asked, rushing towards the collapsed boy. You kneeled down and noticed the tears that were running down his cheeks.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine," he stuttered with a forced laugh, trying to hide his face from you. You were shocked, not sure what to do and decided to hug the crying boy.

"Hey, hey, shhh. Let it all out, it's fine," You soothed gently, his small body shaking as you felt his arms weakly go around you. You ran your fingers through his spikey hair in an attempt to calm him down which seemed to help a bit.

After a while, he pulled back, wiping some of his tears with a bit of laughter.

"S-Sorry for crying into your shirt, I didn't mean too."

You waved it off, not sure what to do now. You looked at all the volleyball scattered around and then back to him. That's when you noticed the multiple bruises that scattered his pale skin on his arms and legs.

"Noya-san? How much have you been practice?" You asked suddenly, your eyebrows furrowing at his bruises. Your hand lightly brushed over one of his larger bruises on his arm which he flinched from.

He didn't answer and instead tilted his head down to avoid your eyes. You sighed and hugged him again, resting your head on his shoulder.

"Come on, let's go home. I'll worry about this mess later. Let's get you home first," You gently said, pulling away and helping him get onto his feet. He didn't even bother to protest as he nodded and winced as he got up.

"Alright, you're gonna take a break after this. I don't wanna see your tired ass here again, alright? Gonna give me a heart attack," You joked a bit, grabbing your water bottle for him to drink from. He laughed a bit and gladly drank from your water bottle and gave it back.

He didn't nod, right? Maybe he's too tired. He's not gonna practice for this long again, right?

You noticed the swaying he had as if he was going to fall any second now.

You placed one of his arms over your shoulders as you carried his bag and your other shoulder. You gently placed your arm around his waist to make sure he didn't fall.

"Come on. Now, where's your house?"

Hey! So... thoughts? Part 2 is gonna come up soon!
