It starts in the last year of middle school and you go to the same school as Kageyama.
Warning: Some angst if you really squint, but that's about it and some swear words
~Fluff~
"Move faster if you want to hit my sets!"
You furrowed your eyebrows as you walked past the gym.
That kinda sounds like Kageyama. That idiot didn't listen to me, now did he?
You sighed as you walked into the gym, some relieved glanced being sent your way as you walked with a small smile to the fuming Kageyama.
'Thank you' The coach mouthed as you nodded at him and pulled Kageyama to the side.
You were childhood best friends with Kageyama so his usual dementor didn't scare you, even as a kid.
You sighed deeply at Kageyama with an airy laugh as you looked at the usual scowl on his face.
"I told you this! You can't just go yelling at your teammates!" You started poking Kageyama's chest harshly as you scolded him. He flinched a little as he looked at you with his eyes widening a bit.
"What? It's not my fault that they won't move-"
"Tobio-san! Why do you think like that?!?" You asked exasperated as you pinched the bridge of your nose.
"What else am I supposed to think?" Kageyama argued which made you give him a disbelieving look.
"I don't know, maybe that you're doing something wrong? That maybe you should adjust to the spikers instead of yelling at them, baka?" You said, repeatedly poking Kageyama's forehead as if it was going to finally nail into his head.
Kageyama's face went blank for a second before going back to his usual scowl.
"And why would I do that?"
You couldn't help, but let out another airy laugh as you flicked Kageyama's forehead.
"You'll learn soon enough. Now I better not hear you yelling from now on," You said with a stern look as you pushed Kageyama back to the court, but not before slapping the back of his head.
"Baka."

You winced as you heard another shout from Kageyama.
"Just hit the ball! It can't be that hard, can it!"
You saw the look his teammates shared and the words along with nodding.
"Yeah, he deserves it."
With furrowed eyebrows, you watched as the match played out, Kageyama setting the ball too fast once again. You could almost feel your heart stop as no one went up to hit it and it fell on the ground with an echoing bam.
"Tobio!"
You ran up to your best friend as the match ended, taking both his shoulders as you searched his face for any emotion.
"Tobio, Are you okay?" You asked with worry evident in your voice. You saw Kageyama's dark face that sent off a gloomy aura. He almost had a traumatized look on his face as his face went blank.
"Just say it."
You gave Kageyama a confused look as you opened your mouth.
"What-"
