After about a week or so of rest, I took an evening stroll over to Andy's tent to tell him that I was ready to begin training again. As I neared his doorway I stopped in my tracks, hearing his raspy voice inside. There was no one else around, most of the Legion of the Black going to the southern side of the camp for a celebration before the Uprisings started again. I was about to knock on the post that held his door when I heard his raspy voice from inside...singing. Andy hasn't sung a word since Juliet's death. What made him want to start singing now?
"The best things in life come with a price," He sang quietly to himself. As the breeze blew around me, I felt what could only be described as a warm touch upon my back. I turned around to find myself alone. "The star that burned so bright faded the fastest," Andy continued his sad song. The wind rustled the canvas tent, pushing and pulling the material at its will. "You'll always feel its rights, even when we end the fights," A sigh hushed the blue-eyed man with the broken voice. The sigh didn't belong to him, nor to anyone that I knew.
After a moment's hesitation, I peeked through the tiny gap in the doorway. Andy sat on the edge of the bed, his arms resting between his legs while he turned his eyes toward the roof. He had a bittersweet expression dancing across his features. His shadowed eyes held shining tears that threatened to overflow at any moment. His lips continued to shape the words to his song, though his voice came out even softer than before. "Welcome home, home tonight..." A shape of a woman started to form in front of the Wild One, a smile gracing his lips. "It's all done for you."
"Andy," The apparition before him sighed. "My love, why are you crying? You should be out celebrating with the rest of the Legion."
My love? Could that be...no, it couldn't-
"How could I possibly want to party when today I've been without you for half a year, Juliet?" Andy's tears spilled over his cheeks, dripping off his chin to the floor. I felt my mouth drop open. Shit he's right.
Juliet cupped his cheek, her skin becoming transparent against his. "Andrew Dennis Biersack," Whoa, she brought out the full name. It hit me that I hadn't known his actual name until now. "You know I'm always with you-I could never bring myself to hurt you in such a way." Her ghostly thumb wiped away the moisture than ran over his skin, making the man lean into her touch. She stiffened suddenly, her eyes glancing down at her feet, which were starting to fade from view. "I can't be here much longer..."
Andy nodded sadly, placing his hand over her's. His voice came out a shaky sob, "You'll come back soon, right Jules?"
Juliet leaned over her lover, placing a kiss on his forehead. A chill ran over him briefly before he took her in with his eyes before she started fading away from him. "As soon as I can, my White Rabbit." And with that, she was gone.
Andy's gaze lingered where the girl he loved had stood for a minute until he realized she wouldn't appear again. He began to cry, his fists balled against his eyes in attempts to stop his tears from falling. Slowly, he made his way to the top of his bed where he grabbed the pillow and cradled it against his chest like a child hugging a beloved toy. "I love you Jules." He let out a cry filled with pure agony and heartbreak, tightening his hold on the pillow.
I stayed close by, making sure he didn't do anything crazy and went to bed. It took the leader a long time to fall asleep, though I could understand how finding sleep would be difficult with sobs raking through your body every other minute. I wanted to go inside and comfort him. Andy comforted me whenever I had no one else to turn to, but this part of the journey he had to expereance alone; no one could understand just what he felt inside. When his body finally gave into the numbness of sleep and the sobs quieted to snores, I made my way back to my own bed on the other side of camp in the pale moonlight.
As I reached the shared tent, I stopped, listening to the cheers and singing of the Legion that were carried across the camp by the wind. The night sky was filled with millions of bright stars, the near-full moon bathed me in a soft light, making everything around me shimmer subtlety. I felt that warm touch on my back again, now knowing exactly what it was. "Hello Juliet."
