Quick note before the chapter begins:

I'M SO SO SO SO SO SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED. I KNOW I PROMISED TO UPDATE LIKE 2 MONTHS AGO AND NEVER DID AND I FEEL SO BAD. I haven't been feeling the best for the past few weeks; I'm starting to think that I definitely do have depression. The thought that I might really fucking sucks. I had a really bad day today, but after seeing my best friend at his work and having him give me the biggest, longest hug I've had to date (as well as him making me coffee and a bagel for no cost on my end) I've gotten into a better mood and really really want to write. I really hope you all don't hate me for taking so long to update.

ON TO THE STORY!

~~

I fell to my knees, my gaze glued to my hands. I couldn't understand where this...power came from. It just...happened.

Had Jinxx called me the Masked Warrior? Had Andy referred to me as the Wild One?

 What the hell?

I could hear my friends calling my name, hear the pounding of their feet as they carried them over the ground to where I had fallen. It all seemed far away as I stared at my hands. I curled and uncurled my fingers, trying to find any hint of charred flesh or other type of wound, though none appeared.

It wasn't until Andy pulled my face up to meet his gaze that I broke out of my dazed state. He was smiling this crazy sort of smile, not making me comfortable at all. He giddily held my hands, talking in a fast, excited tone. "That was brilliant! You have to do it again! You have to control more-create more!" That was the last thing that I wanted to hear come from his mouth. I pushed him away, sparks flying from my fingers only to connect with his shirt. Little burn holes formed on the fabric, Andy trying to put out the small flames frantically. By the time he or anyone else looked up, I was out of their sight. I had to get away from them all.

I had to think.

How did Andy know I had these powers? Why me? Did my mother know? My father? There were so many questions buzzing around in my mind, relentlessly pounding against my skull.

I ran until I found a huge rock formation somewhere in the desert. There seemed to be some sort of cave high above the ground, some trees had managed to grow around the entrance. I glanced behind me, just to make sure that no one had followed me quickly enough to see me from where I stood, poised at the base of the rock. Once sure that I was alone, I started to climb. All I wanted at this very moment was to see what was in this cave.

By the time I managed to hoist myself onto the ledge in front of the cave entrance, the sun started to set; the sky was turning a beautiful shade of pink. I sat a few feet back from the edge, looking out toward the way I had come. I could see little moving dots on the horizon, though I couldn't tell if it was just my mind fucking with me or the Legion had actually caught up with me. Either way, I was taking refuge in this cave tonight.

Inside the cave looked to be just plain rock, though a couple feet in, something shining could be seen. I took another few steps inside, stooping down slightly so I didn't hit my head on the roof of the cave. What I had seen shining from the entrance were metals partially hidden in the walls. How one would be able to get it all out and carry around was beyond me.

I took a seat in the shadows, playing with a blade of grass as I tried to mull over the thoughts swirling in my brain. The sky outside had turned a darker pink, some purple streaks blended in here and there. Voices were carried on the wind, some of them calling my name. Others were calling out for the Wild One. I sighed, shaking my head.
