Hey  loves...sorry about the hiatus. Life's just been kinda shitty for me lately. Thanks for sticking with me and being patient with me.

I sat in that cave for who knows how long. The floor was cold, the frigidness creeping through my clothes with ease. Even though I longed to go back to the Legion, to where a warm sleeping bag awaited me, I couldn't bring myself to get up and move. If my power consumed me at any point, I'd rather die here than have those I love witness me burn from the inside.

I absentmindedly twirled my finger around as it hung off my knees. The small covering of sand on the floor of the cave shifted slightly in the wind as my finger moved. It was strange to think that I was the force behind this movement. The humidity in the air seemed to move around me in time with the grains of sand. I decided to grab a small rock, seeing what I could do with it; curling my fist around it as tightly as I could created small dents where my fingers had been. I would've continued playing with my new found powers if I hadn't noticed a small dot moving out of the corner of my eye.

Someone was walking away from the camp that the Legion had set up. Was it Andy? I'm not too sure I'm ready to face him just yet.

I watched them from the shadows, studying the way they moved as my hands hovered over the hilt of my dagger. On their back, they carried what looked like a backpack and sleeping bag. As they came closer to the formation of rocks, I could pick out more prominent features of the mystery person; a man with long, black hair and a bandana tied around his head. The man's tattoos wove all around one of his arms, making it the only visible color in the moonlight.

CC. He must be looking for me.

I shrunk back as far as I could into the shadows; I can't see him right now...no matter how close I am to him, I don't want him to see me like this. Not now.

Soon enough, his footsteps could be heard just outside the cave's entrance. I could see his tall silhouette against the night sky, causing me to hold my breath in hopes that he doesn't see me. After a minute of him looking into the cave, he sighed, setting the backpack on the ground. "Jess," He sighed, but didn't move inside and further. "I know you're in here-I mean, where the hell else could you have hidden yourself?" Fuck. "This stuff is for you. I won't make you come back till you're ready." CC turned to leave, starting to climb back down the rock. "Love you kid." He called softly. With that, he disappeared back to the camp.

When I woke up the next morning, I was surprised to find CC and Anthony outside of the cave, standing in the exact spots that Juliet and I had been standing in the night before. They stood with their backs to me, Anthony's arms crossed over his broad chest. I sat up as quietly as I could, listening to their conversation intently. I could tell they were trying to be as soft as possible, most likely so I didn't wake up.

"I just don't know how she's going to react when she finds out." Anthony muttered, shifting his weight. The morning sun glinted off his hair, making it seem lighter than it really was.

"She's like my sister and I love her-you know that. I just don't want to see all of this weight put on her." CC shook his head. He reached up to fix the bandana still tied around his head. "She could've fucking died  yesterday!"

"You think I don't know that?" Anthony glared at the man next to him, both unaware of my eavesdropping . "I saw her burst into a pillar of flames too, Christian. Andy shouldn't have pushed her like that...he should've started with something small, like...like," He reached up to grasp onto his hair, tugging slightly as he always did whenever he was stressed. "Fuck, I don't know." He hung his head in defeat, running his hands over his face.

"Finding out she's the Wild One is stressful enough for her," CC turned to look at my best friend. "But I don't know how she's going to take having to go to City 1781-" His words were cut short by me throwing a pebble across the cave. "Oh, Jessie...you're awake." The two men stepped towards me cautiously, making sure I wouldn't do anything dangerous.

I scoffed, standing up and starting to gather up my things. Once everything was put away and my daggers were in their rightful places, I turned to the men standing in my path. Looking between them, it was clear they were hiding something from me. Anthony had his eyes trained on the ground, shifting his weight from foot to foot. CC had his arms crossed, one hand at his mouth, biting on one of his nails. His eyes full of uncertainty. "So what's this about 1781? If I remember correctly, that's where the big fight is going to go down?"

When I didn't receive an answer from either of them, I pushed passed them, climbing down the rocks. I looked back up to see them scrambling to follow after me. "If neither of you will give me answers, I'll just ask someone else." I growled. Once my feet hit the ground, I was off to find the one who I knew would give me the answers I needed.

Ashley.

Stepping over sleeping bodies of the Legion, I finally made it to where I knew Ashley would be. Unfortunately, Andy was there with him. They sat a little ways apart from the rest of the Legion, giving them the privacy they needed to speak about personal matters and battle plans. A small fire was already going, food being heated over it in a small bowl. Andy had his head in his hands, his long fingers curling at the roots of his hair. He was distraught, that I could tell; whither it was over my sudden disappearance or a different matter, I don't know.

Ashley, on the other hand, seemed at ease. His hands rested behind him, propping himself up as he gazed at the fire cooking his food. He noticed me approaching, waving me over as he sat up straight. "Well, good morning sunshine," The Deviant grinned up at me, his smile shrinking slightly when Andy's head shot up.

"Jessie! Where the hell have you been?!" Andy started yelling at me, which I wasn't in the mood for this morning. I held up a hand to silence him, turning only to glare at him.

"I may have these powers now, but who the hell knows if I'll be around enough to learn how to use them. I know what happened to Juliet and if you think you can just push me that far, you can go fuck yourself." Rage filled my voice and his eyes, though both men glanced down at my hand. Only then did I notice that my fist was engulfed in flames. "I'll learn to control and use these powers myself. I don't need your goddamned help." I stepped closer to the leader, holding up my flaming fist. "I'll be using these powers for myself-not you, not F.E.A.R., not anyone." I willed the fire to be extinguished and prayed that it did.

I turned my back on a fearful, furious Andy, only to find an amazed Ashley. "Geeze, you sure are something, you know that?" He chuckled, offering a hand to me. He guided me to the seat on the ground next to him, studying me carefully. "You need something," Ash pointed out.

"Why is 1781 so important other than the final battle?" Ashley's eyes widened a bit, hesitating before answering me.

"You really don't know?" He muttered, finally meeting my gaze. "City 1781 is what you used to call home."

Sooooo yeah that was a wild ride, wasn't it? Sorta? Okay fine then.

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted anything in so long. I just haven't been feeling my best lately and I've been trying to get my summer reading done. It doesn't help that both books I have to read for my AP English class are boring as fuck.

I'll try and update again soon, so until then, I love you and don't forget to vote/share this story with your friends!
