Helloooooo my dears! So so so sorry I haven't updated in a while! I've been getting ready for not only finals/midterms, but dental surgery as well. There were days where I really wanted to update, but the pain caused by whatever device I had in my mouth hurt to thepoint of giving me a horrible migraine. I could barely look at my phone it hurt so bad. I'm feeling much better now, my surgery happening I think next week, if I'm correct. So again, I'm so sorry for not updating for so long!

Jessie's POV

The day had finally arrived. The camp looked like a war zone; small tents were being taken down and stuffed away to be carried, backpacks were strewn around the ground while they waited for their owners to fill them up, the high pitched squealing and clanking  of weapons being quickly made or repaired could be heard in the air. If anyone was near the weapons tent, they'd have to be careful of the shower of sparks that would occasionally fly out the doorway. Someone already had the back of their shirt catch fire.

Not only was it the day we were to start out for the next Uprising, but it was also my eighteenth birthday. Only eighteen and I've already experienced so much.

I slung my duffle bag over my shoulders, making sure not to jostle my poisoned daggers too much. My other pair resided at my hips, gently bumping my thighs with each step. I headed over to the middle of the camp, helping the other soldiers if they called out to me. There were some kids that needed last-minute help before we left on fighting techniques, which I was happy to help them with. One girl-she was only thirteen- had just joined the Legion a few weeks ago. An Uprising had nearly destroyed her home, though she fought for her life when the Shadows came to kill her. Jinxx had found her cut up and bloody on a large pile of ashes that she had managed to push together. She was rather shy, though she liked to confide many of her thoughts to me.

"I think I got it," The girl smiled at me. She hugged me quickly, hurrying off to find her friends. "Thanks Jess!" She waved over her shoulder before disappearring around a corner. Before I could turn around, her head popped back around the corner. "Oh, happy birthday!"

I smiled and continued on my way, nodding in thanks to whoever wished me a happy birthday. I saw Brandon out of the corner of my eye, though he just watched me as I walked past. Unfortunately, he'd be coming with us. The friends that I had here were coming with the rest of us, purely because I had asked CC and Ashley to add them to the list.

"Jessie!" I saw Jinxx packing up a sleeping bag with a group of people. "Andy wants you at Ashley's tent!"

I nodded and made my way there. Most of the Wild One's tents would be remaining here, only Jake and CC were taking their tents, since they would be able to share with the others, if need be. Big Jess chose tostay behind at the camp, figuring that she could handle the few groups that were left behind. I was sad that she declined the offer of coming with us, though I respected her choice.

I reached the Deviant's tent, poking my head in the doorway to see him and Andy standing around the map. "Ash?"

Ashley waved me over to the table. "Jess, come here." I stepped inside and leaned in between the two men. Ash pointed to one of the smaller dots on the map. "Have you been to this city or at least seen its layout?"

I nodded, pointing at a stack of various maps and plans that were stacked in the corner. "I was looking at some of your maps the other day and I skimmed over it a few times."

I saw Andy grin as Ashley patted my back. "Okay good," Now it was his turn to smile at me. "You're stickin' with me kid."

Just before we had left, I remembered Ashley's girlfriend-or whatever they were- begging him to go. He figured she'd be safer here, so he had to tell her no countless times before she finally took the hint and walked away, grumbling under her breath about how he was an asshole and that she deserved to go. Anthony had tried pursuading Tagen to stay behind, only so he would be sure she'd be okay, but that only ended in Anthony getting completely shut down and out-cussed by an angry girl who was just barely five feet tall. The argument was settled with Tagen coming with us to the Uprisings.

"You got your daggers?" Andy bumped my shoulder as we walked out into the open desert. We were near the front, though I flitted back and forth from my friends and the Wild Ones.

"Yep." I patted the sheaths on my thighs and inclined my head towards the two hilts that stuck out behind my shoulders.

"Good, you'll be needing them." He ruffled my hair and turned to go check on the back of the group, make sure that they were keeping up.

Each time I passed the middle of the group, I could feel Brandon's eyes following every move I made; he was hurt. He had hurt me and some of my loved ones in some of the worst ways possible. His feelings really didn't matter to me anymore. I would tolerate him if I had to train or eat at the same table with him, though if he tried to get me alone, I wouldn't hesitate to kick his ass before leaving him in the dust.

When we stopped for the night, I asked CC to make sure Brandon kept his distance from me and my friends. He told me not to worry, leaving me and my group to our little campfire. Anthony had attepmted to start one himself, though after ten minutes of him moaning and groaning about how it wasn't working, I pulled out a lighter and lit the damn thing for him. "It's that simple honey," I mocked how many times he had said that to me in the past.

My best friend growled, sticking his tongue out at me. The way the flames danced across his face made the blue in his eyes glow beautifully. I had always admired how pretty they were, while mine were just brown. He began telling a legend that my mother used to tell me when I was very little.

It was the Legend of the Wild One.
