Once in your room, you take out the piece of paper and keep it aside. You change into comfortable clothes and lay on the bed studying the paper. You painstakingly spend time trying to decipher every character in the four lines written down, but to no avail. The text is so unfamiliar to you that even your extensive knowledge of ancient languages doesn't help. You wonder how and why it appeared in front of you like that. There must be some significance to it, but you won't find out tonight. The strain of staring at the small piece of paper is making your eyes hurt, so you decide to go for a walk to get some fresh air and enjoy the moonlit night.
The Academy is quiet except for a few teachers in their classrooms doing extra prep or marking papers (that reminds you, you need to set a test for the fifth years soon). You decide to go back to the front courtyard with the main fountain that you came through on your first day. You had found it so peaceful and majestic at the time, that you feel it would be the perfect place for you to ponder events so far.
You wonder about Yoongi's attitude towards you. You couldn't work out why he was so cold, bordering on being aggressive. It definitely can't be because of you personally, so maybe it has something to do with your presence here. But why would your presence produce such a strong reaction in him? Suddenly you hear footsteps behind you. You react quickly by turning around and pointing out your wand.
"Woah, easy, it's just me, Ji Min, put your weapon away," says a surprised Ji Min with his hands up.
"Why were you creeping around so quietly? I was ready to stun you", you say, flustered.
"Not possible, I've already been stunned by you," he says smoothly, walking towards you.
You roll your eyes, "what is it with men and their cheesy lines?"
He is now only about a foot away from you and you hope it's too dark for him to see you blushing. "Sorry, you're right, that was cheesy, I don't know why I said it, I guess I was trying to impress you," he replies.
"Listen, don't worry about Yoongi, and don't take what he says personally," he continues.
"It's a bit hard to not take personally when he's behaving that way directly at me, but it's fine I can handle it," you respond, still keeping an eye on his movements. "Why are you out here anyway?" you ask. You don't know why he's so close, but you feel it's safer to just keep him talking.
"I just came back from a meeting and fancied a walk in the fresh air. And you? You shouldn't be out here by yourself, it's not safe." he counters.
"I just needed to clear my head," you reply. "What do you mean it's not safe? This is the BigHit Academy, the safest place to be in right now!" you ask, surprised at his strange comment.
"I mean, you only know what you have always known. There are all sorts of supernatural bodies that lie beyond the Academy," he says, even more cryptically.
He is now dangerously close to you, his green eyes gleaming even more brightly than usual and watching you closely. He leans in, angling his face towards you, lips slightly parted, his gaze now on your lips. He is so close that you brace yourself, ready for what might follow.
Then he suddenly stops.
"I'm sorry Rumi," he whispers, backing away, "I don't know what came over me. Sorry."
Head down, he swiftly turns around and walks away while you are left breathless, wondering what just happened, and what just could have happened.
