You're back with just enough time to regain your composure. You put Ji Min and his fine form firmly out of your mind and stand outside your classroom, arms folded, waiting for your first set of students from House MOTS. The bell rings and they start to line up along the wall outside your classroom, most of them oblivious to you standing there with the sternest face that you can muster.
"Right, third years, when you come in, look at the board, find your name and find your seats. You will notice that the seating arrangement is slightly different from what you're used to. You have seven minutes to get yourselves settled. Take a minute longer and you will find yourself losing House points," you instruct as they walk in.
The students quickly find their seats, keen to hear what the new ESD teacher has to say. "My name is Madam Min, and as your Evil Sorcery Defence teacher, I am your best chance at learning how to defend yourselves against sorcery that is banned in our wizarding world. If any of you waste my time whilst I am expanding your knowledge, you will get detention. For those of you who are curious what that will entail, you will be scraping chewing gum off the tables. By hand."
Now that you have their attention, you continue, "Today you will revise producing purple sparks, which you learned in Year 1 and when I'm happy that you can produce acceptable sparks, we will discuss the basics of casting a spell to tie someone up."
The prospect of tying up their peers entices the students to enthusiastically cast their "Jajutppit bulkkot" spells. You tell them to point that enthusiasm out the windows. The last thing you need is a fire-related mishap on your first day. When you're satisfied with what they can do, you move onto how to cast the "Muktta" spell.
"This spell, as it suggests, is used to bind a person. It is only to be used when you need to stop a perpetrator and for nothing else. Now raise your wands and point it steadily at those mannequins and say, 'Mukt-ta' with emphasis on the second syllable," you instruct.
The students cast their spells with varying degrees of success, some able to produce full binds, while others can barely produce rope long enough to propel out of their wands. You let them practice for a bit longer until it is almost the end of the lesson.
"Right, third years, practice this spell because I will be testing your skills next lesson and awarding House points to the best ones." You dismiss the class in an orderly fashion and use this next free period to prepare for your next class. Immediately, though, there is an enthusiastic knock on your door and Ho Soek pokes his head through it. "Hi, I'm Ho Seok!" (you half-expect him to say 'I'm your hope, you're my hope....' etc.)
"I teach Sapien Studies downstairs and I saw purple sparks coming from your classroom so I thought I'd come and say 'hi'! That was so cool! How did your first lesson go?"
You immediately like the smiling face of Ho Seok and the conversation flows easily. He tells you that he helped put together the performance by TXT yesterday, which you praise.
"So have you met the whole gang then?" he finally asks.
"By the whole gang, do you mean BTS? Yes, I have met everyone," (you recall the most recent encounter), "I was wondering - how come you all decided to teach here? And how is it that nobody in the outside world knows you're here?" you ask.
"Yes BTS is here, we all specialise in different subjects. Nam Joon hyung is the best at Transmorphosis, Tae Hyung has the Divine Vision, Jung Kook excels at Combat, Yoongi is a master as Elixirs, Ji Min is a dab hand at Life Spells," (you cough slightly here), "Jin hyung makes Herbal Panacea like no other, and I pretty much wrote the book on Sapien Studies. But what we didn't have was an outstanding ESD teacher until now," he beams at you.
You wonder why everyone seems to rate your skills so highly. You get a weird sense of foreboding but dismiss it.
"In answer to your question, we decided to teach here because BigHit Academy did so much to develop our music careers and we simply wanted to give back to future trailblazers by passing on our musical acumen as well as giving them a solid education."
He adds randomly, "Hey, you should totally join us for lunch today and become part of our 'Bangtan Teachers' gang. I'm sure everyone would love to get to know you better."
"Erm, I'm not sure everyone would, Yoongi, I mean Master Min, didn't seem particularly pleased to see me, " you counter.
"Oh don't worry about him, his bark is worse than his bite. I'll pick you up at the start of lunch, don't leave without me!" And with that, he's gone.
