CHAPTER 2 - INDUCTION

You don't have time to dwell on BTS because Uncle Hak-Kun walks into the Academy's staff room with an air of familiarity and leads you towards a person you recognise as the Principal of the Academy, Principal Bang.

"Principal Bang, I found this newbie, I mean your new Evil Sorcery Defence teacher, who is keen to get started with her induction," Uncle Hak-Kun said.

Was it your imagination, or did he place unnecessary emphasis on the word 'induction'?

Anyway, you bow to the infamous Principal Bang and say, "Principal Bang, I am so very grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to teach at your prestigious school."

"Ms Min, the pleasure is entirely mine. You came highly recommended by the headteacher at your last school, and heaven knows we certainly need a truly gifted and competent teacher such as yourself at this, er, time," Principal Bang responds.

"This time?" you ask.

"Oh, nothing specific, Ms Min, I simply mean that a good ESD teacher is hard to find. We're glad to have you on board! And from what I hear, the other teachers could learn a thing or two from you!" he beamed.

You blush in embarrassment at such high praise; something you've never been comfortable with.

"Ah, here comes Master Jeon Jung Kook." he continues.

Bowing low at Principal Bang, and without missing a step, "Principal Bang, how have you been? Did you see the Academy's Taekwonjudo rankings this summer? Our students are out-performing all the others! Of course, we could still work on which students we place in which category, and tweak some of their diets, but I think this year we can become national champions!"

You stare at this handsome and athletic person, whom you assume teaches Sports, and seems to be completely oblivious to anything or anyone else.

"Er, Master Jeon, let me introduce you to our new ESD teacher, Madam Min," says Prof Bang gesturing towards you.

"What?" he turns around in surprise, "Oh sorry, I didn't see you there, my bad." He continues, "so you're teaching ESD, huh? You any good?"

A bit taken aback, but feigning confidence, you reply "I am."

"Master Jeon, kindly introduce Madam Min to the other members of staff, show her where her classroom is, and then escort her to the Main Hall for our first assembly of the year," instructed Prof Bang.

"Sure thing, PB!" replies Master Jeon and he guides you by the shoulders towards a small group of teachers talking intently amongst themselves, ignoring anyone else.

"Hey, bros, this is Madam Min, our new ESD teacher!"

The three male teachers stop talking and immediately turn to face you.

"Hello, my name is Min Rumi," you introduce yourself, bowing slightly. You notice that all of their expressions when they see you are different. One of them looks mildly surprised, one looks distracted, and the third one looks at you with some suspicion.

"Madam Min, nice to meet you too, my name is Kim Nam Joon," says the man who looked mildly surprised. He seems polite and conscious of his manner in public.

"Nice to meet you, Master Kim, what do you teach?" I ask respectfully. He looks like someone who has taught at the Academy for years and earned that respect.

"Transmorphosis," he replies simply.

"Oh, I forgot to say, I teach Combat!" interjects Jung Kook, while skillfully avoiding spluttering out the crisps he was eating.

Hmmm, interesting, you think to yourself, that explains your high energy, but does it explain your ability to eat and talk at the same time?

"I'm Min Yoongi, you can call me Master Min", and with that, the one who looked at you suspiciously turns away and leaves. You try not to appear shocked at this sudden exit.

"You'll have to excuse him, he's not much of a chatter" explains Nam Joon. He stares after Yoongi to see where he is going. "And this is Kim Tae Hyung (no we are not related) and he teaches......"

"Nam Joon hyung! Nam Joon hyung!" interrupts Tae Hyung, "I can sense something terrible about to happen.....Yoongi hyung won't be with us for long...." he says, eyes closed and his fingers on his temples.

Looking at Nam Joon, "He teaches Divine Vision?" you suggest.

"Tae Hyungshi, Yoongi hyung actually left a minute ago! Wow, your skills are amazing!" says Jung Kook excitedly.

You hold back from rolling your eyes.

You're not sure how the rest of this induction is going to go, but between the stoic Nam Joon and slightly uncontrollable Jung Kook; Tae Hyung and Yoongi (or rather Master Min), you feel a bit overwhelmed. Have you made the right decision coming to BigHit Academy?
