Win No Matter What

CHAPTER 27 - PRELUDE TO DESTINY

Once inside, you speak first, "There is a part of the prophecy which mentions a woman who is compelled to protect you, Ji Min, and when I spoke to Principal Bang, he seemed to think that the person was me."

"I know we haven't known each other for that long, but ever since that first night, my mind has been over-run with thoughts of you, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shut you out. I miss you when I don't see you and I get butterflies when you're around". 

You look down shyly. You've never been so frank about your feelings to anyone and you start to feel a knot in your stomach. What if he thinks you're crazy?

Holding your hands, he says, "You're right, we don't know that much about each other and this may even be the longest conversation we've had so far, but there is a universal language that needs no words or actions, you just feel it. I have never been more certain of anything than I have about my feelings for you. I don't need any more time to get to know you, Rumi, because every part of me instinctively seems to know every part of you already. I feel like I can see into your soul and you are the one I've been waiting for my whole life."

He continues, "So, that part of the prophecy doesn't sound strange to me at all. When I first saw you, I couldn't take my eyes off you. Is this what they call love at first sight? That pure love when two people see each other and from that point on, you know there's no going back. The past becomes irrelevant and the future is not worth worrying about. At that point, we only live in the moment, being absolutely certain of what is in front of us right now. Maybe it has already been pre-ordained or written in the stars, or whatever you want to call it. All I know is, I've never felt this feeling before. Perhaps this is what it means when they talk about finding your soul mate. What I feel is love. Pure, unsullied love. The kind of love that is meaningless if not given to you.

He pauses, allowing you time to take in everything he has just said. Love? Is this love you've been experiencing all this time? That ever-elusive feeling which you never thought you would have in this lifetime?

"Ji Min," you pause, trying to verbalise your incoherent thoughts, "Is this 'love' I've been feeling all this time? It felt so unfamiliar to me, but if what you've just described is love, then it all makes sense now. You've explained perfectly what I hadn't been able to comprehend myself."

You nod as you continue to process, "Yes, soul mates. That's exactly it. What we feel for each other goes beyond explanations and conventions. We were always meant to be together."

Ji Min inches closer to you, "Ever since that first day, I was so overwhelmed with this unfamiliar feeling and if you remember, I wanted to kiss you so badly, but just about stopped myself. I couldn't understand why I wanted to do that since I'd only just met you. That second time, however," he pauses slightly, "it took all my strength to end it with just a kiss, but now..." he leaves the sentence unfinished, lightly stroking your lips.
