This is your last lesson of the day before lunch and you have fifth years from House LYT who will be taking their final Wizarding Education Exams (WEEs) at the end of this year.
You look forward to this class because you love teaching exam content to students whom you can stretch in terms of skills and knowledge. You also take it as a personal challenge to ensure your students outperform all the others! It's part of your passive competitive nature.
Once the students have settled into their seats, you ask if they have any questions or concerns about the upcoming exams. A sea of hands goes up.
"Madam Min, is it true you can conjure a shielding spell in a split second?"
"Madam Min, how long have you been teaching?"
"Madam Min, don't you think Master Park is so handsome?"
"Madam Min, do you think Divine Vision is real wizardry or just made-up?"
Only one of these questions throws you. You raise your hands to appease the bombardment, "Ok, fifth years, calm down, none of these questions are related to what you're learning today. Therefore, I won't be answering any of them. If you don't have any real concerns, then let's make a start. Turn your books to page 75."
A boy's hand shoots up.
You look up, "Yes, Min Ho, is this related to today's work?"
"Madam Min, I left my bag in Master Min's class, can I go get it? Oh hey, are you both related?" Adam asks.
"You've only just realised you left your book? What about when you walked in here empty-handed? Ok fine, go, but be quick about it."
Giving him an exasperated look, you realise you're probably going to have to keep an eye on Min Ho from now on. In about two minutes, he returns empty-handed.
"Where's your bag?" you ask surprised.
"Master Min was very unhappy about me interrupting his class so he told me to get lost," replied a deflated Min Ho.
"I'm sure he did not tell you to 'get lost', you must have done something to disrupt his teaching. Never mind, just share with Hyung Sik for now and get your things at lunch."
The rest of the lesson continues without any more interruptions and soon it's time for lunch. Once dismissed, you reflect on the fact that this class is quite able and you are going to enjoy teaching these students. You then remember that Ho Seok will pick you up for lunch so you wait for him, a bit nervously as you worry about seeing at least two of the Bangtan Teachers gang.
A quick knock on your door and Ho Seok beams at you as he walks in. He has a way of looking at a person as if he's meeting that person for the first time, each time. "The canteen serves great kimbap, I'm really craving that today, let's go!" he says excitedly.
"So everyone will join us for lunch today?" you ask, trying not to sound worried, when in fact you are.
"Yes it's the first day of teaching, so we make a point of all eating together at least today and then once a week. With so many things to take care of and problems to sort we need to meet to discuss them....I mean, you know, teaching strategies," he adds hastily, briefly avoiding eye contact.
You wonder what problems he is referring to. You enter the canteen and immediately spot Tae Hyung waving at you both. You see that all of the gang is sitting on a large rectangular except Nam Joon. Ji Min is smiling at you. You look at him briefly and then turn to Tae Hyung and Seok Jin who are next to each other.
"Rumi, come sit next to me. Guess what you eat in front of trees," asks Seok Jin. "Entrees," he bellows in laughter. Jung Kook joins him, slapping his thighs, "Good one, Jin Hyung," he says.
You stare at them both blankly and, being acutely aware of Ji Min still looking at you (damn he looks so good in a suit), you smile feebly and sit next to Seok Jin. You notice that Yoongi is looking at you with some disdain and says, "Madam Min is there a reason why you sent the inept Min Ho to me in the middle of my lesson? Surely it wasn't that urgent for him to collect his bag?"
You are a bit taken aback by his instant challenge, but before you can respond, Ji Min says, "Yoongi hyung, this is Madam Min's first day teaching and she would have had a lot on her plate today. I'm sure she had good reason to send out Min Ho and has probably already sussed out how to deal with him in the future."
You're amazed at Ji Min's unprompted support. You hadn't asked for it and would have been capable of speaking up for yourself. He seems a bit sure of himself, you think. But at the same time, you counter, he was probably just diffused an unnecessary argument.
Yoongi says nothing more and goes back to eating without displaying any emotion.
"I'm glad you managed to join us in the end, Rumi. I thought you would have been too busy," he says smiling innocently (curse those beautiful eyes). You smile at Ji Min, still in conflict about your feelings for him and reply, "Ho Seok insisted that I come."
Nam Joon finally joins the group, looking a bit weary. "Hi everyone, I was just talking to Principal Bang, and we have a lot of things to take care of. Let's meet this evening, usual time and place," he says cryptically, sitting down at the last free seat.
