I just wanted to squeeze her cheeks at the puppy look she was giving me.
She looked around her, seeming to be taking her surroundings in as he hands absent-mindedly smoothed over the wet sheets. "Where am I," she murmured to herself. "This isn't my room. This isn't even the pack house..."
Suddenly, she seemed to realize she was surrounded by her mates. "Which one of you is the idiot that bit me, in a bathroom, without my permission," she hissed. I knew that it hadn't been me, yet even I took a step back at her tone and expression. She looked murderous.
"I thought you were enjoying yourself," Romulus cried indignantly, the picture of outrage.
"And which moron," she continued, completely ignoring my foolish brother. "Just splashed me with arctic cold water," she continued. She was practically hissing at us at this point, face scrunched up in obvious distaste. Her eyes were narrowed to slits, her lips peeled back into a snarl.
I heard two audible gulps behind me.
She turned to look from me, then to Remus who was behind me, a now empty bucket stupidly poised midair. Lastly, she turned to the one who caused all of this in the first place, Romulus. He was currently hovering by the bedroom doorway, a defiant look plastered across his face, arms folded.
I turned around, just managing to stifle a grin as Remus quickly dropped his arm, empty bucket still in hand. Where had he gotten that from anyways? Sniffing, she must have decided that I was the one in charge of them - which I usually was. Who am I kidding? I always was.
"Well," she barked. I barely refrained from jumping out of my skin. "Which one are you anyway," she demanded suspiciously. "I'm going to have to make them either start wearing name tags or color code their outfits," she added more to herself than to any of us.
Grin sliding from my face, I straightened my posture. "H-hi," I said, nervously rubbing the back of my neck. "I'm Coinin, the eldest Alpha to be of then Shadowed Fang pack." I pointed to Remus next, who had finally put the bucket somewhere out of sight. "That's Remus, the idiot that dumped water on you." I nodded towards the doorway where Romulus was lurking, his face partially engulfed by shadow. "And that's Romulus, the mentally defective imbecile that bit you."
She gave me a brief smile when I introduced myself, her teeth briefly flashing as she sent a small grin my way, dimples popping out from hiding. She narrowed her eyes when I introduced Remus, sniffing as she warily eyed him from head to toe and then back again.
When I mentioned Romulus' name, she simply sniffed once more, her eyes gleaming with the promise of vengeance.
You are so dead, I told him.
Do you think it would help if we apologized, Remus asked me.
I know, Romulus moaned, ignoring Remus' question.
I'm not sure if it would, but it can't hurt, I answered Remus. I simply Ignored Romulus as he continued to whine; he had brought this on himself.
"Can you guys not do that," she huffed.
"Do what?"
"Communicate through the mind link when I'm right here," she answered slowly as I f I was a few cells short.
"Oh! Sorry about that Leila, I didn't even realize. After a while it just becomes a habit."
"It's fine, I understand. This will take some getting used to for all of us - some more than others, apparently. Nice to meet you Coinin," she added randomly at the end with a small smile. She pointedly ignored the other two. "Now where am I?"
My grin dropped as I remembered how and why she had gotten here in the first place.
