How things had gotten out of hand so quickly was beyond me.
I had entered the room to find Ernouf hovering over Leto. It hadn't taken long for Romulus to once more lose his temper and do something stupid. He practically dove for his younger brother, ignoring Leto and I as we shrieked and begged for them to stop.
"Do something," I ordered Coinin. Romulus looked like he was more than willing to murder his brother then.
"Fine, you and your friend stay here though, alright?" I eagerly nodded, happy that he was going to stop his brothers.
Leto had backed away to the corner of a nearby couch, rocking back and forth. She seemed unsure of whether she should cover her eyes or ears and had settled for staring ahead wide-eyed as she covered her ears.
Before Coinin could open his mouth, Romulus accidentally punched him in the eye. Gasping, I ran over to him, just missing being struck myself.
Romulus and Ernouf were now rolling around on the ground like a bunch of toddlers. Coinin made his way over towards me, not caring when he stepped on his two brothers a few times.
"Come on," he muttered. "We'll have to wait for Remus to get down here and help us."
I hesitantly nodded in agreement as I let him lead me over to the couch Leto was cowering on. "How's your eye," I whispered as I gently poked the surrounding area.
"Fine," he said as he grabbed my finger just before I made contact. I gave him an unimpressed look at his answer. "Really Leila, it's fine, I've had worse. Where is Remus anyways," he said more to himself than me.
Romulus and Ernouf were rolling around by our feet now. Not wanting to watch anymore, I burrowed my face against Coinin's shirt, clutching the smooth blue fabric as I did so for comfort.
"What is going on here," Remus cried from the doorway.
I peaked over Coinin's shoulder to find Remus standing just inside of the doorway. Romulus abruptly let go of Ernouf, getting to his feet while Ernouf rubbed his neck.
"Exactly how long was I gone," he continued as he slowly turned first to his brothers still on the floor, frozen, to Coinin and I to Leto.
Sighing, he made his way over to Romulus and Ernouf. He held out a hand to help first Ernouf, then Romulus to their feet. "Which idiot started it," he demanded as he turned to Coinin and I.
He picked me up and gently placed me on the couch next to Leto before he joined his brothers. Rather than answering or even pointing, he punched first Ernouf, then Romulus.
"That wasn't really an answer or helpful," I murmured to Leto as she tearfully nodded in agreement. I moved over next to her and hugged her.
"That wasn't helpful," Remus drawled in agreement, though he was clearly amused now. He eyed Coinin, frowning suddenly. "What happened to your face," he demanded.
"Romulus," he bit out. "Or Ernouf, I'm not quite sure. I was just trying to stop the fight when one of them accidentally got me."
Romulus opened his mouth, presumably to defend himself, when there was a loud, ominous bang. What was with all of the loud noises today anyways?
All of us rushed towards mu uncle Anubis' office where the sound had originated, hoping that everything was alright.
Nothing would ever be okay from that moment forward though.
