I had thought that Bella's mates were bad. Ernouf was much worse, and that took talent. Not a good talent, but it's a talent.
If he had thought that I hadn't seen him sniffing Leila and pawing at her he was wrong. If you think I'm going to fight over him with Leila then you would also be wrong; he wasn't worth it from what I had seen so far.
Leila's mates where about a foot away from him when I decided to intervene. Clearing my throat I turned to Leila with pleading eyes. "Leila," I said, well, whispered hoarsely.
I cleared throat once more. "Leila, can you control them?"
She grinned at that as the others turned towards me while Romulus, Remus and Coinin paused to see what their mate had to say.
"Of course, anything for you! Just make sure to get a leash for that dog of yours. He's too friendly for my taste."
I heard a whine from my side while Leila's mates frowned at what I had said then chuckled at the expense of their brother. She turned to them expectantly with her hands firmly settled on her hips.
"Down boys!" I think she was joking, but sometimes it was hard to tell with her. Leila always had a smile on her face and her tone, while not monotonous, was always the same. You'd think you'd be able to tell from her body language or facial expression but that wasn't always the case with her.
As the next in line to be Alpha, she had been raised to give as little away as possible. Unless you knew her well enough to know her tells you would be left in the dark.
Sighing in an exaggerated manner, Remus backed down first. A frown tugged at Coinin's lips while Romulus stubbornly folded his arms across his broad chest.
"Please?"
Groaning, Coinin stomped away to stand next to Remus by the kitchen counter. Romulus seemed to be ignoring her however.
"I'll forgive you if you do..."
Romulus' red face slowly returned to it's normal color as he broke out into a radiant grin. "Promise," he asked, his pearly whites blinding. Did he do advertisements for Perle Blanch toothpaste on the side? Seems like a missed opportunity if he didn't.
"I said I would, didn't I," she drawled as he took a step towards her. He practically ran to her side at that.
"I really am sorry! My wolf was just so happy to have found you..."
"Hey, no fair," Remus cried. "That's all he has to do? What about me," he pouted.
"I'll forgive you too?"
"Why did you say that like it was a question? Do you like Romulus better than me," he whimpered.
"Obviously," Romulus grinned as Leila's eyes widened. She smacked his shoulder, the easiest place for her to wack with these giants.
"Shut up Romulus! No, of course not Remus, don't be silly," she snapped at Romulus before turning to Remus with her eyes softening.
"So, we can go now, right," Ernouf butted in.
I closed my eyes and begged the Moon Goddess for patience.
"I was actually going to have some girl talk with Leto."
"Great idea Leila!"
"You just spent time with her," Romulus muttered, arms folded.
"Can we please spend some time with you, get to know you better," Coinin asked.
She seemed to think for a moment.
"Fine," she relented.
"Don't sound too happy," Romulus muttered.
"Alright, no. Better," she demanded as Remus and Coinin seemed to be attempting to turn Romulus to a smoldering pile of ashes with their gaze alone.
"I'm sorry," he cried.
"Come on, let's go," my mate grinned as he grabbed my hand to drag me out of the room. I yanked my hand from his grasp before leaving the room with a loud sigh.
"Coming?"
He ran after me with a grin as I left the kitchen, Leila and her mate's voices following us as we did.
