Switching them on

Joe's POV
Today we were going to the hospital to finally switch Safire's implants on, this was the day that we had been waiting for, Dianne and I knew that we still had a long road to go down but this was one step closer and it would mean that over time she will be able to hear.
We left the house and made our way to the hospital.

At the hospital
"Hi guys" said Ava as we walked into her office, we greeted her.
"Well guys today's the big day, and guys don't worry if she doesn't react straight away because we start off very quiet and we'll gradually increase the sound, but she'll also have to come back once a month for the next year to gradually have her implants turned up" said Ava.
"Okay" I said.
"Alright I'm just gonna go and give Jessie the all clear" said Ava and then went into the booth that was opposite.
"She then came out and placed Safire's cochlear implants back on her head, they had been taken off so the could be connected to the computer.
"Okay, Jessie is switching them on now" said Ava
"Safire"? Said Dianne, there was no reaction from her.
"Jessie's just gonna turn them up now" said Ava.
"Safire"? I said and then her expression changed.
"I think she heard you" said Ava
"Safire" said Dianne, Safire then looked around as she was confused as to were the sound was coming from.
"It's mommy, look" I said pointing to Dianne.
"Well it's Safe to say that she can definitely heard something, and hopefully she'll eventually be able to talk" said, when collected some charging instructions and then we made our way home.
"I think it's safe to say that today has been one of the best days of my life" said Dianne as were laid in bed that night.
"Mine too and probably Safire's, I mean this day literally changed her life" I said
"It did, it really did" said Dianne and then we both fell into a dreamless sleep.
