Third POV
They'd gone to the last class of the day, with school eventually finishing yet again.
They filed into the car the ride being silent, making their descent back home.
Ace had thought about what Catherine had said earlier at lunch, and he realized that there was no point in staying mad, the decision was final.
And deep down he knew that casssie had a good tactic so it was only fair that she got to take over...
Even if that meant his initial dream was over.
"Cassie, Harley, I'm sorry." Ace apologized suddenly.
"You're what?" Cassie repeated, her eyes opened widely.
"There's no point in me staying mad, it's like you said, and as for Harley sorry for turning on you bro." Ace added.
"It's cool."
"You're forgiven."
Ace chuckled, "now then, do you all wanna tel me why the car rides have been so quiet like seriously!"
"Well I mean you are the one who starts most conversations so..!" Eden laughed.
Just Cassie and Ace.
"Bye V, bye Harley!" Cassie waved.
And soon the car started driving to back to their home.
"Ace mind telling me why you dropped it now, you seemed so determined to get your way earlier." Cassie spoke.
"I don't know, earlier today someone told me that I should look at the bright side of things." Ace answered.
"Besides, you are older than me even though it's by a couple of seconds." Ace added.
"Well since you've decided to apologize I guess I should too, but don't forget I'm not the only one, you forgot about mom and dad." Cassie grinned.
"F*ck." Ace mentally cursed.
He forgot about what he had said this morning, and now he was gonna have to pay for it later tonight.
Eventually the car stopped, as the two got out.
"So care to stick up for me..?" Ace chuckled sheepishly.
Cassie turned to face him, before smiling maliciously.
"No, you're on your own."
"TRAITOR!"
They headed inside to see Elizabeth in the kitchen, most likely preparing a snack or something for em.
"Hey kids, how was school?" Elizabeth greeted not turning to face them.
"Boring as ever, oh mom, what time is dad coming home today?" Ace asked, placing down his bag.
" around 5, why?" Elizabeth replied.
Cassie beat him to his response.
"Cause he wants to apologize, it's funny if you think about it!" Cassie scoffed.
"Oh? How so?" Elizabeth raised her brow, now facing them.
"Well he never does anything wrong, the only time he apologizes it's mainly to you." Cassie explained.
"Oh yeah, well he is a mommy boy-!" Elizabeth giggled, much to Ace's embarrassment.
"Mom-" Ace spoke his cheeks slightly red.
"Well here is your snack, I'll be preparing dinner soon." Elizabeth spoke handing over a fruit bowl to each kid.
"Thanks mom." They thanked before heading upstairs to their individual bedrooms.
With Catherine~
She was currently in her bedroom, using her phone since she had just finished up her homework.
She then thought back to ace.
"GAH! Why do I have that STUPID wrath in my head!" She groaned out loud.
She then heard a ding from her phone.
It was a text from an unknown.
It read: Hey, it's me Ace :)
She rolled her eyes, as she opened up her messages.
Hi.
(The next messages) c-Catherine, A-Ace
A: oh good, I thought you were gonna ignore me.
C: well I might!
C: anyways why are you texting me?A: well first I wanna thank you for your advice.
Catherine put on a bored look.
A: and I also just wanted to talk with you since we're friends.
Catherine was now shocked, them? Friends?
C: friends? Since when..?!
A: since the banquet, you said you didn't have any so I said that now you do!
C: but it doesn't work like that!
A: why not?
C: You can't just automatically decide when you're friends with someone!
A: if we aren't friends why did you accept my invitation to lunch?
Catherine paused, she had no idea why she did, but she couldn't just let him think that she cared and wanted to be friends.
C: it's because I just wanted to to know why you looked so down earlier that morning, and seeing as that you are clearly fine I won't do it again!
A: yeah but that's actually being a good friend... Y'know you aren't as bad as you think you are.
Catherine read over that text, it made her feel some type of way, since no one had told her that before.
C: whatever, I have to go!
A: bye see you at school!
Back with Ace.
He set his phone down, as he heard a knock on his door.
"Come in!" Ace called.
And in came Meliodas.
" hey dad..." Ace spoke, his tone lowering.
"Cassie told me that you wanted to talk to me." Meliodas spoke.
"Yeah... I do." Ace nodded.
Meliodas sat down besides Ace, his gaze locked on his son.
"I wanted to apologize for earlier... Cassie earned that spot fair and square so I have no reason to-"
"It's fine. No need to explain."
That's all Meliodas said, his face holding a Cheeky grin.
"But are you ok with Arc mafia though?" Meliodas questioned.
Ace paused, he had no reason not to like arc mafia.
Sure it caused problems at some point, and lead to his mom being kidnapped and losing his sibling but it was all because of one person.
He then smiled before answering.
"I've thought about it, and I won't let the past define the situation so no, I don't mind taking over Arc Mafia."
"Well that's good, cause I'm tired of hearing you and Cassie going back and forth." Meliodas laughed.
Ace only chuckled. "Well you and mom did say it's always lively between the two of us."
"Now then, cmon, it's time to eat." Meliodas cheered, as he and Ace left the bedroom.
