"Where the hell have you been?" Becca screeched as I walked in the door.
"An interview, oh and I found a place to live."
"What, what's wrong with here?" She demanded.
"Becca, it was only a short term thing." I didn't want to cramp her and Jims style anymore than I already had.
"Fine. Hurry up and get ready."
I looked at her questioningly. Get ready for what?
"Brian's Kylie, we're having dinner at Brian's."
Oh yeah I'd forgotten about that. I guess I'd been too busy sulking about Matt.
It had been four days and he hadn't called. I hadn't seen him or heard a word from him, so I guessed I was right after all.
"And hurry up." She called as I headed upstairs.
I showered, did my hair and makeup in record time, I quickly threw on a dress and went back down. Becca and Jim were waiting for me.
"I'll drive." I told them.
There was no way I was going near a drop of alcohol in this mood, I'd be a sobbing mess by the end of the night.
We headed over.
"So what's this for?" I asked.
"We just announced a new tour so we're celebrating." Jim told me.
"Oh sweet. How long is it?" I asked him.
"A few weeks."
There we go with a few weeks again.
"Oh, so what's that, like two?" I asked.
"Nah more like five."
FIVE, a few weeks was not five.
"A few is two Jim." I told him.
"No it's four or five."
"I agree with Kylie, it's two." Becca piped up.
See, I knew it.
"Why are we arguing about this?" Jim asked.
I fell silent, I wasn't answering that question.
Becca looked at me and shrugged.
We pulled up at Brian's and headed in. We were the first here. He greeted me with a hug then got us drinks. Soda for me.
"So where are the other's?" Jim asked.
"They'll be here soon."
Fuck, it hadn't occurred to me that Matt would be here.
A knock interrupted us and Brian got up to let Johnny in. He was with a girl I'd never seen before.
"This is Sally." He told us.
We all greeted her. She seemed nice and I was glad Johnny had found someone.
What if Matt brought a date? I hadn't thought about that and as I did I felt my chest tightening, I needed air.
I stood up and excused myself, heading out the back. I sat down and took a few deep breaths.
"Are you okay?" Becca asked, coming out.
I shook my head. "I think I need to go home."
"Oh Kylie, I'm sorry." She said softly.
Sorry, sorry for what? What had she heard?
"I'm fine." I lied.
"It's okay if your not. It must be hard seeing couples after that douche cheated on you."
Jesus, she thought I was sulking about Michael. How wrong could she be.
I just nodded. "Maybe I just need to sit out here for a bit."
"Okay, well sing out if you need me." She headed back inside.
I sat here in the quiet, listening to the others arrive and thinking. Maybe when I moved into my place I wouldn't see these guys as often. Maybe I'd be able to get over Matt.
I heard the back door open and I looked up. Matt was standing there.
"Hey." He said smiling."
"Hey." I replied.
"So." He said, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking towards me. "Has it been a few weeks?"
I smiled at him. "Yes, yes it has."
