I got up before sunrise, I wanted to start out early, so I could get to L.A by a reasonable time.
The drive was fine, I was going to go the coast road but changed my mind, I just wanted to get there and get this over and done with.
I arrived at my hotel then called Stephanie.
"I'm here."
"Good I'll be there in an hour, we'll have a drink and dinner."
I agreed and had a shower and got changed.
I looked in the mirror, for once I didn't have to cover my tattoos but I did anyway, it was habit and also a part of my life I'd rather not be reminded of.
I went down to the lobby and waited for Stephanie and when she walked in a million terrible memories flooded back.
"Kylie, look at you, you look great." We hugged.
"So do you." She did, she looked really good. Last time we saw eachother neither of us had looked too good.
We went into the bar and took a seat.
"Drink?" Stephanie asked.
I nodded, why not.
"Jack?"
"Wine for me, I'll get it." I hadn't touched JD for years and I didn't plan on it.
I got our drinks and we talked.
"You've done well Kylie, I'm glad."
I smiled at her. "I worked hard Steph."
"The guys have done well too." She smiled.
I nodded, of course I knew that. "Yes they have, I'm glad."
"You broke Brian's heart."
I laughed. "I'm sure he got over it." I took a drink. "I had to do it you know, I was dying Steph."
"We know." She squeezed my arm. "Well we know now, we hated you at first. We felt like you abandoned us."
"I didn't, I just couldn't keep on doing it anymore."
"It made us all wake up to be honest Kylie, it was the slap in the face we all needed, I just wished you had have kept in touch." She looked sad and I felt bad.
"I had to make a clean break otherwise I would never have left." I would have been dead, I never doubted that.
"So, are you ready for tomorrow? Everyone will be there."
"Hmmm I'm not sure." I wasn't going to lie, I was terrified.
"We've all changed, gone our seperate ways, we catch up a couple of times of year but don't worry Kylie, everyone's excited to see you."
They were? What a shame I couldn't say the same.
