Day 5

River hummed a tune as he walked to the school main entrance. These past 3 days, there were whispers all around him but he tried his best not to listen to them. He couldn't possibly shut them out when they are like bees buzzing near your ears every second, every minute. This was the version of the whispers going around him :

" I think River had brain damage... That's why he was insane enough to make friends with stupid Paige."

" He is clearly delusional. I mean what does he see in that stupid fat pig. And Lance too! "

" Maybe he is just trying to get into her pants cause she is such an attention seeking whore."

" This is just crazy. I mean now the all time loner has a friend and that friend is River. I think he is mental or something. "

He walked to Paige's locker and surprisingly Paige was already there taking out the books she need for today. He raised an eyebrow and said, " Someone was early today. " She replied, " Well, I woke up early today so I came to school early today. " She then just put her face into the locker, ignoring him.

Lance suddenly appeared in front of Paige and River. He said, " Hey guys. " She mumbled, " Hey. " and just continued to hide her face in the locker, ignoring both of the guys. River greeted Lance, " Hey, man. "

All three of them were just in their own thoughts, creating silence between them. Lance broke the silence by saying, " Are you guys free on Saturday? " " Yes. " River and Paige said in unison. " Why? " River asked and Lance replied, " Wanna come over to my house to hang out? " He shrugged, " Sure. I don't see why not. Paige? " She mumbled, " I'm not even your friend... "

Lance chuckled, " Come on, we are friends! For the few minutes that I've met you and talked to you. " She rolled her eyes, " Right... I don't want to go. " " Why? " River asked her. She replied, " Cause I can't stand you two. The positivity radiating from you two is ridiculous and annoying. If I had to spend another day of positivity all around me, I think I would scream. "

River put his arm around her and said, " Come on. It would be fun! " Lance nodded enthusiastically and he pulled... his famous puppy dog face. He widen his eyes and pouted his plump lips. After a few moments, Paige sighed, " Fine. I will hang out with you two idiots. " Just then, the bell rang.

" I guess I won't be seeing you in lunch? " Paige said to River. He nodded and pointed to Lance, " But this guy has the same lunch as you so you can find him if you want to. " Lance just winked and walked away.

When Paige started to walk to her homeroom, River teased, " Where's my hug? " She replied, " Isn't this too fast? It is only day 2 of friends. " He grinned and wiggled his outstretched hands, " I know you want to hug me. " " You are such a ball of sunshine. " She mumbled as she reluctantly walked into his arms.

River put his arms around her shoulders and said, " See you after school. " She couldn't believe the warmth radiating from him as he hugged her. All the feelings are foreign to her, she felt that she was attracted to River's warmth, she wanted more. But she reluctantly pulled away as she felt taken aback of what she was feeling. She just muttered, " See you. " and walked away.

Paige was putting her books into the locker like always. She was walking in the empty hallway suddenly there were the sounds of heels echoing through the whole hallway. She felt that the sound was coming towards her but she thought she was being pan stood and brushed it off.

She quickly walked to the opposite direction that the sound was coming from since it was getting louder and louder by the second. But all too sudden, she was slam against a wall of lockers. She groaned in pain and looked at the person who pushed her.
