When the walls come down

Chapter 5

Kim couldn't believe that he managed to get Alix to come to school.

She was wearing black leggings with a black sweater that hid her face. The class was silent as they watched her walk in and sit in her seat.

Alix looked behind her and glared at Kim.

He saw her sadness and guilt behind her glare as well as the dark circles around her eyes. She looked like she hadn't slept in days.

It hurt him seeing her like this.

Alix turned back around and laid her head on her desk. Mylene sat with Ivan and she assumed it was because she was scared of her.

"I'm scared of me" Alix thought and held in tears. She told herself she would not cry, she was independent and strong.

"Then why do I need someone"? she wiped her tears and the class started.

Lunch came around and Kim spent most of the time looking for Alix.

"Damn that girl is stubborn" he thought and joined his friends.

"What were you looking for dude"? Nino asked.

"It doesn't matter" Kim said. "I'll find it eventually".

"Are you feeling ok"? Max asked. "Yeah, you're not acting normal" Ivan added.

"Alix is his bestfriend and shes ignoring him, I think he's allowed to not be normal" Adrien scolded.

"Please just talk about something else" he sighed.

They started talking about hanging out Saturday night but Kim just drowned them out and thought about Alix.

It was the last class of the day when Alix finally decided to answer one of Kim's many notes.

"Are you ok"? the latest one read.

Alix- No
Kim- What do you want for completing the dare?
Alix- nothing
Kim- ok... what are you doing after school?

Alix wrote on the note but then crumpled it up. She didn't want to bother him with her drama.

The bell rang and everyone slowly made their way out of the room, except Alix who hurried out before everyone.

Kim saw the note that he and Alix had been passing, sitting on her desk.

He picked it up and uncrumpled it. He recognized the conversation, except for a sentence at the bottom.

"I'm visiting my mothers grave" he read as he walked out of the class.

Kim looked around for her but couldn't find her.

"Who are you looking for"? Max asked. "Alix" he said quickly.

Max pointed at doors and they watched Alix walk into the pouring rain.

He went outside but she was long gone. He needed to follow her. He didn't know why but he had a feeling she needed him.

She was going to tell him for a reason.

Kim let memory guide him through the graveyard, having been there before. The wind was strong but he would find her no matter what.

He froze when he saw her standing over her mothers grave.

Alix didn't see him through her tears and the rain. She turned her head towards the sky and screamed, letting out all her emotions.

It was drowned out by the wind and rain but Kim was close enough to hear the pain in it. He looked back at her and saw her staring at him.

He swore his heart almost broke at the sight of her like that.

She couldn't believe he came.

Alix had intentionally left the note on her desk, hoping he would notice it and read it.

And he did.

She looked at him now, through the rain and saw his unusually caring eyes. He walked over and took a place at her side.

"Everyone hates me" she said. "Why don't you"? She looked up at him.

"I care about you more than you think" he replied.

Alix turned and wrapped her arms around him. He was surprised but eventually returned the hug.

"Let's get you home before you get sick" he said.

Alix just nodded and they walked towards the Louvre. Kim kept his arm around Alix, which she didn't object to.

Once they got to her door, they finally spoke.

"If you need anything, text me" Kim said.

"Thank you" Alix gave him a brief smile and closed the door.

He left and thought about how angry his father would be but he didn't care.

Alix is worth the pain.

*Later that night*

Alix woke up in a strange room. She got up and walked over to the window and saw Ladybug and Chat Noir fighting someone.

She looked closer and saw them fighting Timebreaker.

Alix remembered this part, the worst part.

She watched Kim jump in front of Ladybug as Timebreaker sprang forward. She fell to the ground in tears.

"Why did you kill me"? Kim said behind her.

"No, you're not real" Alix cried.

"Am I"? He said. "Take my hand". He stretched out his hand to help her up. She took it and he froze.

"NO"! She screamed. "I'm so sorry, I take it back"!

"You can't take it back". Alix turned and saw Timebreaker. "You will always be me, theres no escape" she laughed.

She looked down at her hands and saw she was Timebreaker. Alix fell to her knees again and cried for it to go away.

She jumped awake and put her head in her hands.

"I can't do this anymore" she whispered and continued to cry.
