The morning after the exodus ship crashed, Bellamy led a small group to the landing site in search of any survivors. From the very bottom of her cold, black heart Venus wished that there wasn't any. He had awkwardly invited Venus to join their expedition however she just as awkwardly declined. She didn't feel like spending to day with Bellamy and being reminded of her soul crushing feelings for him. Instead, she decided to spend her time in a much more pleasurable way: bitching with Octavia.

The two dark haired girls had got themselves front row seats to Jaspers one man show: how to screw everything up and still pretend you're the hero. The pair cringed incessantly at how desperately harper and the other girls were hanging on to his every word. A few days ago Jasper was fangirling over Octavia and now he had his very own fan club. "Fear is only a problem if you let it stop you, right?"

The girls both rolled their eyes and let out over dramatic groans. "That's not even his line. Finn said that." Octavia was practically brimming with distaste.

"I saw the Grounders in the trees. It was like nothing I ever felt. You know, pure animal instinct took over. One pull of the trigger, two Grounders dead."

"'Pure animal instinct'? More like pure pant's-wetting panic." Venus snickered as they both watched Jasper soak in the attention.

"You don't really know what you're made of until a moment like that, you know, when it's kill or be killed and there's just nothing between you and the tip of the spear."

"I'm sorry, but the only thing that boy is made of is skin and bone." Venus said, prompting a giggle from Octavia.

"This has to stop." Octavia said as she began to make her way towards Jasper. Her bitterness was clearly triggered by the fact that Jaspers reckless actions meant that her and Lincoln couldn't be together safely. Before she managed to reach him Monty-who had apparently been listening in on their conversation-stopped her.

"Come on. Let us have this!" He said with a nervous smile. Octavia and Venus just looked back at him in confusion. "Look at him. The boy is a folk hero. They even gave us a bigger tent." He reasoned, gesturing to the fairly impressive tent that sat behind Jasper. A more spacious living area was no excuse to demolish the only chance of peace that they were ever going to get. Before Venus could give them a piece of her mind something more pressing caught her attention.

"Somebody hit the trip wire!" Connor yelled frantically from the other side of camp. The guards who were on watch began shooting manically and the two girls both shared the same look of dread.

"Lincoln." Octavia whispered. Her panic stricken voice made Venus' heart sink. She had just managed to free her friend, there was no way she would let him become a prisoner of war again. They sprinted towards the source of the sound however it wasn't Lincoln's tanned and toned body that lay before them; it was Murphy's bloodied and fragile one.

"Murphy?" Connor said as he looked down on his weak state. Him and another boy dragged him into the drop ship, muttering something about what Bellamy would do when he saw him. Venus began to walk after the boys, curious to find out what had happened since Murphy's banishment. It was a struggle to match their pace due to her short, stubby legs. Their strides were approximately double hers but she still pushed her little legs to carry her as fast as she could. Before she could actually make it into the drop ship Connor stopped in front of her. "Venus, you're not going in there." He said sternly as he blocked her path.

"Like hell I'm not." She snapped as she tried to barge past him however he held her back. He was surprisingly strong considering his scrawny physique. "Get out of my way, dumbass." She said as she shoved him backwards, triggering a wince as he grabbed his shoulder. In all honesty, she wasn't that interested in seeing Murphy however the fact that Connor thought he could tell her what to do seriously irked Venus.
