Venus and Onyx headed back through the woods in search of the tunnels. She had never actually been down there before due to her father's overprotective nature and the fact that it was strictly forbidden because of the reapers. Venus had only ever had one encounter with a reaper. Her and Stellan had been exploring and saw one lurking in the woods. It's face was menacingly disfigured and it had a callous and ominous look in its eye. When Venus looked at it, she could feel the aura of anguish that enveloped it. She was never able to comprehend it until now. Right now, she felt about as alive as a reaper.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw movement. It took her a while to understand the scenario taking place before her but as soon as she did she leaped into action. Lincoln was sprinting at an inhuman velocity through the woods and hot on his tail was a mob of reapers. She instructed Onyx to gallop towards him and she stopped a few metres in front of Lincoln. His face lit up at the sight of her . "Get on!" She yelled as she extended her hand to help Lincoln into the horse. He clasped it tightly before heaving his body onto Onyx. "Let's go!" She yelled and the horse sprinted into the forest.
"How close are they?" She asked frantically. Not daring to look back.
"We've almost lost them. Just keep going until you reach my cave." Lincoln instructed and Venus obliged.

They finally made it to the safety of Lincoln's cave with not a reaper in sight. Venus had remained silent until then, too focused on escaping a painful and gruesome death. The pair slipped inside, leaving Onyx tied to a tree. "Okay, so what's the plan?" Venus asked, hoping that her friend had an idea of what to do next.
"Here. Pack as much food and water as you can, or anything you might think is useful. We're getting out of here." Lincoln instructed, handing her a rucksack. Venus began shovelling food into the bag, along with a blanket and a few knives. Their packing was interrupted when they heard footsteps growing closer towards them. They both held their swords in a defensive position. Finn crept around the corner. Venus felt relieved that he was alive however also extremely concerned that he wasn't miles away from here by now.
"Oh my god. You're both alive!" Finn exclaimed merrily. However Venus was not in the mood to indulge in niceties.
"What the hell are you doing here? We told you to leave." She snapped at the younger boy, causing his face to drop.
"We tried. The scouts were already there." He explained defensively.
"I'm out of ammo! What is that? Requesting backup, now! Sterling. Sterling, do you copy?" A familiar gruff voice said through the crackling radio. Venus' heart fluttered, it was like music to her ears. She thought that she would never get to hear Bellamy again. It was a bittersweet moment due to the fact that it was a rescue call.
"Raven was shot. We need medicine to slow the bleeding." Finn explained hastily.
"You came to save one life?" Lincoln glared at him as if he was stupid.
"I don't have time to explain. Do you have the medicine or not?" He snapped back, clearly becoming impatient. Lincoln pulled out a tin of medicines from his pocket and handed Finn a small vial.
"I see them. I saw... no, stand your gr... if they take the gate, we're all dead." Bellamys frantic voice spoke again through the radio. Venus could hear the stress and fear radiating from him and she knew she couldn't let him do this alone.
"I'm coming with you. It sounds like you could use all the help you can get." She said with a stern nod. She looked to Lincoln and he nodded too.
"I'm in. Let's go." Lincoln and Venus started towards the exit but stopped when they heard Finn mumbling something under his breath. "Finn, come one!" Lincoln growled.
