9. 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖

"I'll walk you home, (F/N)-chan!" Atsumu all of a sudden appears next to you. You shake your head.

"No. I'll be fine on my own, Miya-san."

"Miya-san?? You just called me by my name earlier!"

"No I didn't."

"Yes you did."

"Just be quiet!" You glare at him as he just smiles at you.

"I will if you let me walk you home!"

"That's such a lie."

"How did you know? HEHE."

"Well, let's go," you start walking away from the entrance as he follows you from behind, skipping.

"Where are you going, Tsumu??" Osamu suddenly asks from the entrance.

"I'm walking (F/N)-chan home!"

"I want to co--"

"BYEBYE!!!" Atsumu suddenly takes your hand and starts running away with you.

"H-Hold up!! Why are we running?!" you yell at him.

"SHHH! It's 8pm!" he just laughs then starts slowing his pace with you behind him.

"I'm so tired," you comment while sighing.

"That's what you get for skipping out on volleyball for a whole year," he smirks while you frown.

"I didn't skip. I just played at home and by myself, loser. The reason why I'm tired is because you keep annoying me," You bluntly respond as he pouts and cries.

"Can you let go of my hand now?"

"No!" He smiles.

"You're so bipolar."

"That's rude!!" Then it went quiet.

"H-hey, I want to go over there for a second," You point at the park that you all played at the other day.

"O-oh... okay," Atsumu stutters.

'She doesn't want to go home yet? That's weird... I thought she would want to go home as soon as possible.' You both walk to the park and sit on the swings next to each other. It was quiet and peaceful as the both of you just stared at the stars and swung back and forth a little.

"You," you start which causes him to glare at you.

"You're not even going to address me by using my name? RUDE!" he cries as you just continue looking at the stars.

"T-thank you." Atsumu's eyes widened in shock.

'Why is she thanking me?'

"I had fun today," you look down at your feet that were playing with each other, "if it wasn't for your annoying self... I wouldn't have realized how much fun volleyball was again."

You turn your head to look at him then give him your most honest smile, "Thank you for becoming my friend, A... Atsumu-san," you blush a little. It was now Atsumu's turn to turn bright red.

'What is this feeling?!'

"I-it's no problem! O-of course I'm amazing!! I told you I would make it up to you after bumping into you!" He tries to cockily speak while blushing as you just chuckle.

He just stares at you laughing then smiles.

"Why did you even hate volleyball and stopped playing?" he suddenly asks which stops your laughing.

Your face turns serious, "I don't want to k-keep it a secret or anything, but it's kind of personal. Maybe when we grow closer as fr-friends, I'll tell you," you give an apologetic smile.

"O-okay, (F/N)-chan. I will make sure to become your best friend who can't keep any secrets from me!" Atsumu widely grins.

"Alright. Well, let's get going," you say then get up as he follows you.

"Kita-san's house?"

"Oh yeah, my sister spent the afternoon with his grandma," You say and point at the house across from Kita's house, "That's my house."

"O-oh.."

'Lucky... they live so close to each other!' he pouts. You ring the doorbell and see Kita open the door.

"O-oh, Shi-I mean Kita-san. Is Rina there?"

"Yeah she is. She fell asleep though, so I can carry her home," Kita says as you try to stop him but he insists.

"Alright then, Atsumu-san. I will see you tomorrow. Thank you for walking with me," You say your goodbyes to him as he sadly says goodbye too.

'I still wanted to talk to you,' he thinks as he sees Kita enter your house.

"No fair... I was supposed to get her to fall in love with me then destroy her but... Now I can't. She's my true friend now," Atsumu smiles and puts his hand over his chest.

'It's warm...'

"Can you please thank your grandma for me, Kita-san?" you ask as Kita sets Rina in her bed.

"Sure, (L/N)-chan," He responds as you both walk back to the front door.

He hesitates but then decides to speak, "Since we both are now going to go home at the same time from now on, I can walk with you home since Rina-chan stays at my house."

Your eyes widen, "A-are you sure?"

"Yes. That's what friends do, right?" he asks bluntly as your eyes widen.

"Fr-friends?"

"Why are you so afraid of making friends and trusting people?"

You hesitate, "Personal reasons?"

"Does it have to do with the reason why you stopped playing volleyball?" he asks.

You stare at him then frown a bit, "Stop reading my face."

"Sorry. I'm just really good at predicting what people are thinking," he gives a tiny smile then turns to walk back home.

"I'll see you tomorrow."

"Goodnight, Kita-san."

"You can call me Shin-chan," he says one more time then leaves to his house as you just stare at his back.

"Friends..." you whisper then look at the stars, "I guess I can try doing it again."
