Chapter 27

We were gathered at the campsite, away from the forest where it is currently being investigated by the police. Everyone was mourning for Lia's death, and others are in a state of shock.

I look to the side and Rosie was comforting Yiren who's shivering and covered by a blanket. Yeji, Seolhyeon, and Ryujin were hugging each other while sitting on the log, grieving for their friend's death while Irene and Joy are comforting them.

Jennie is not around along with Ms. Son. They are the last ones to be interrogated after me. I told the police everything they need to know, and it sucks how they think I am one of the suspects. I just hug myself and stare on the ground.

I feel so uneasy. It's bothering me how Lia and I just talked earlier, and now she's dead. It's weighing me down, making me feel like I was responsible for her death.

"Lalisa!" A raging voice echoed behind me and I just turn around, meeting Ryujin's fist on my jaw that made me caught-off guard and collapse on the ground. She then sits on my stomach and grabs my collar.

"This is all your fault!" She continues throwing punches on me, making me snap from side to side. I just cower on the ground, letting her punch me and have no intention of defending myself.

I lost all my strength. What she said just hit me more than a punch on my face.

"Yah! Ryujin! What is wrong with you!?" Jisoo scowls and the others try to interfere with us but I only lift my hand, gesturing them to stop and let her do what she wants. Thankfully they understand me with a worried look on their faces.

I suddenly felt warm liquids falling into my face. I look at Ryujin and she was crying so hard that made me feel even more guilty.

"It's your fault why she died, Lisa! If only you didn't leave her there, this would not happen!" She belts and continues punching me, throwing out all her emotions to me.

"Do not blame Lisa for what happened to Lia, Ryujin!" Rosie shouts, and I notice in my peripheral view that she tries to get into us, but Jisoo only hugs her from behind. I also notice Ryujin's blows were getting sloppier and weaker until she slaps my chest.

"She's a-afraid... of the dark, Lisa. She gets s-scared easily. I bet she told you that." She pants as pain is evident on her weeping face. She then frustratingly grabs my collar. "But look at you! You are alive and well while she was found dead!"

She continues to batter me. I can taste my blood on my lips, and I can't feel my face anymore. But that didn't bother me.

What bothers me is Ryujin's grief reaching me making my chest feel tight and a lone tear escape from my eyes.

"I'm... s- sorry," I mumble that made her stop midair. "I'm really sorry." I just purse my lips and look away. That was all I could say.

She was right. If only I didn't let Lia run away, she would still be alive. I shouldn't have let her run alone in the dark knowing that she's afraid of it. It's my fault. It's really my fault.

"I hate you!" Ryujin shouts on my face again and hits me again. I can feel her anger through her blows as I feel dizzy.

"Ryujin, please... s- stop." It was Rosie. Her cracked voice broke my heart. I didn't mean to make her cry. But I can't move a muscle now. I'm starting to lose consciousness.

"You killed her! You let her die! This is your fau-"

"Enough!" A roaring voice made everyone cower as they zipped their mouth. I sat up and Ms. Son and Jennie were behind Ryujin who looks up to them.
