Stay

I'm on my feet within a few hours. I leave the infirmary, Jesus is still resting from his wounds, Michonne and the others from Alexandria are long gone.

"Luke and Alden are still missing?" I ask Enid as I stand next to her on the watchtower, she's been up here since Chole, one of the nurses took her place in the infirmary.

"Yeah they are," she says, "How's Judith?" Enid asks. I smile, "She looks exactly like Carl," I say, "With more freckles."

Enid smiles as we look out over the farmland. "How long are you staying?" she asks, "Until this is settled, Julia can go a few days without me," I say. "How long really?" Enid asks.

"Until we find Alden and Luke," I tell her. "Daryl's been getting info from Lydia through Henry," she says, "We need it," I tell her.

"Kelly and the others went out with Tara and Carl to try and find them," Enid says.

"I heard, how long have they been gone?" I ask, "Only a few hours," she says. We stay there in the sun for about an hour. Just standing on the watchtower.

It takes a lot for me to get her down to eat. Magna takes her place up there after a while to watch for the two men and the group that went looking for them.

"You should go back home," Carl says, "I'm not leaving this place by myself," I say. "What did you find out there?" I ask as we walk toward the door to the basement.

"We found Luke and Alden's horses, skinned and then eaten," he says. "But nothing from Luke or Alden," I say, he nods.

"I told Daryl I'd take a shift listening in on Lydia and Henry," I tell him as I point to the window. "Go rest some," I tell him.

Carl nods and leaves. I sit quietly by the window.

Enid and I switch off at dinner and I go to the trailer where Connie and the others are staying. I stop at the door. I'm about to knock.

"It's been too long," Yumiko says, "Luke could be hurt, waiting on us."

I decide not to knock yet. Not just yet.

"Luke can handle his shit and they say that Alden can too," Magna tells her, I can hear a steady scraping, she must be sharpening something.

"And we should risk that?" Yumiko asks, "I almost screwed it up for as at Alexandria. We have a second chance. Going against Tara means we can lose everything," Magna finally has a level head, "Luke wouldn't want that."

"Luke would want us to be together," Kelly says, "All of us. We know how to sneak out of Hilltop. You know that," Kelly says.

"I vote that we go," Yumiko says, "Who else?"

Everyone is silent for a moment. "It's Luke," their leader says, "Minute by minute, day by day. Ride or die. That's how we got here so we keep that."

"Good then we leave tonight," Yumiko says. I bite my lip before I leave the trailer, I go to my room in the manor house to gather my bow and arrows, gun and knife.  I eat an apple on my way down the stairs.

I sling a bag over my shoulder before I make my way back to where they are going to leave. I watch Yumiko lift the slab of fake firewood to get to the secret exit.

Kelly stops when she sees me, "What are you doing here?" she asks. "I'm going with you," I say.

"No you're not," Yumiko says.

"I know the terrain, I know where they might've found somewhere to hide and the best spots for herds to gather," I tell them.

"And if we run into the freaks then I know where to go," I say.  Magna cocks and eyebrow at the dark haired woman.
