You stood there, not knowing what to say, you knew Loki loved his mother dearly, you looked at Thor, a tear ran down his cheek, though he quickly wiped it away, attempting to smile at you

"Loki held her close to his heart, if I was to tell him of the news, he may react - badly." Thor worded his sentence carefully, you could hear the sadness in his voice, you moved over to him and hugged him, he wrapped his arms around you tightly, you could barely breathe but you didn't care

" I'm so sorry." you said, not knowing what else to say to him, Thor let you go and smiled

"Thank you lady Y/N, it means a lot to me, I do not think I would be able to see Loki in pain, even if it isn't physical." He said

"It's fine, I'll tell him today, you just relax okay, you deserve a break, she would be proud of you."you smiled at him, he nodded and walked to the door

" Good Night Y/N. " He said softly

" Night. " you replied, as soon as the door shut you groaned, this wasn't good, how could you tell Loki his mother was dead? He'd hate you even more, you couldn't just pretend that you told him, Thor would find out that you didn't. You sighed, better to get it over and done with you thought. You walked slowly to the lift, dread filling your mind, you were nervous, scared even, there was no doubt about it. You entered the lift and pressed the prison floor, or whatever it was called, you didn't care, it felt as if you were being walked to your own cell for a crime you didn't commit. The lift doors closed a bit too fast for you liking, and immediately started to move down. You wiped your sweaty hands on your jeans, the doors opened with a quiet scraping sound. You step forward, earning the attention of Loki, his eyes went wide, then a glare set on his face, you walked forward, trying to gather up any small amount of confidence left in you, he opened his mouth to speak but you quickly interrupted

"I know, you don't want me here, and I'll leave, but Thor has told me to inform you of something." you got quieter near the end of the sentence, dreading what he was going to say. Loki furrowed his eyebrows in confusion

"Well spit it out then." He said, standing up, never leaving your gaze, you swallowed, you weren't sure if you could do this to him.

"It's not good." you said quietly, looking down at the floor, he scanned your face, his own slightly softening

"Just tell me." he said, walking closer to the glass, his voice sounded demanding, but his expression was almost one of kindness

"Loki, yo-your mother-" you couldn't finish your sentence, a lump formed in your throat, you saw Loki's worried expression, he looked at you desperately

"Please Y/N, tell me, what of my mother?" he asked, his hand resting against the glass door, you looked at him, your eyes filling with tears from seeing him like this

"She has passed." you said barely above a whisper, you looked down and closed your eyes, looking back at Loki, he took a step back, his mouth slightly open, his eyes looking at the floor, glazed over with tears, he turned his head away from you.

"Loki, I'm so sorry." you said quietly, he didn't say anything in response, just kept his back turned to you, his hands clenched into fists, his body slightly shaking. You couldn't stand seeing him like this, quickly opening the cell door, you walked over to him, wrapping your arms around him, your head resting against his back, he flinched, but didn't pull away. Your grip tightened on him, never letting him go, he shifted slightly turning to face you, you looked up at him, tears ran down his face silently, you wiped them away with your thumbs, he closed his eyes, slowly lowering his head and burying his face in the crook of your neck, your hand found his hair, slowly you ran your fingers through it, comforting him the best you could. It hurt you to see him like this, you knew Frigga loved him as her own child, Thor would often tell you about her, she sounded like a wonderful woman, you wished you could've met her. Loki made no noise, his arms hung loosely around your waist, you held him tightly, slightly rocking him sideways, your hand still playing with strands of his raven hair. He sniffed slightly before looking at you, his eyes slightly red, though you could tell he was forcing himself not to show any emotion, he still held on to you, looking at you with lost eyes. You smiled softly at him, although it was a sad smile, full of guilt and sympathy
"I'll go." you said softly, he probably didn't want your company right now, you began to pull away from you, but his grip tightened on your hips

"Don't leave." he said quietly, you nodded, a small smile painted on your lips

"Let's read something then." you said, grabbing his hand and leading him to the small mattress he had, you sat down and he quickly copied.
"Loki, lay down, you need to relax." you spoke softly, his body was tense, his hand shaking, he shook his head softly

"I'm alright." He croaked out, clearing his throat slightly, you shook your head

"Lay down." you demanded with a soft tone, you weren't going to give up, you were certain on that. He sighed softly before laying down, his head resting near your thigh, you grabbed the blanket and threw it over him. You took a book that laid beside you and opened the first page, your other hand massaging Loki's hair softly. You began to read quietly, taking small breaks to look at him, his eyes were still red, but he closed them, his face relaxing as your fingers tangled themselves in his hair, you'd wouldn't leave him, not until he woke up, and even then you would stay until you absolutely had to go. He needed someone to be there for him and you were going to make sure that he had that.
