thirteen

it was about 9 am and the group of teens decided they needed to make up for lost time and actually drive a long distance today. they would see where they would get by the time it was dark, but they were hoping to be in texas, or very close. it would be about a 10 hour drive so they would be sure to take a few stops.

usually the teens could entertain themselves by watching netflix, talking about drama, or playing road trip games but if they were going to be in the car for 10+ hours they were going to have to find more things to keep them entertained.

sophie decided to drive first and had finn to accompany her in the passenger seat. lexi sat in the back with madeline and noah. for the first hour they sang along to the high school musical soundtracks, and talked about very random thoughts that would come into their head. during the second hour, they played different road trip games like categories,
the alphabet game, or iSpy. the third hour was spent listening to music, again and playing would you rather or other games they could find.

"i hate to be that person guys, but i'm already getting bored." lexi groaned.

"we've been in the car for three hours." noah chuckled.

"i love road trips so much! but we need to find something else to keep us entertained." lexi explained.

"i don't know about you guys but i'm hungry as hell."
finn opened a bag of popcorn.

madeline and noah got a bag of groceries out from the trunk. they had gone shopping together yesterday before lexi and chosen came back because they were bored. madeline opened a veggie tray with ranch in the middle.

"let's try not to spill this." madeline giggled.

"mads is in clutch with the healthy stuff!" lexi laughed.

"get that out of here!" finn gagged.

madeline handed a carrot and celery stick to sophie who was driving. they all tried their best to not spill the veggies and ranch all over the car floor.

finn, lexi, and sophie started talking about new netflix shows they were binging while noah and madeline enjoyed each other's presence.

"wanna watch friends again?" noah smiled.

"you know it!" madeline giggled.

noah handed madeline an earbud and opened up one of the many seasons he had downloaded on his laptop. madeline rested her head on noah's shoulder as he hit play.

it was about 3pm and they decided to stop at a gas station that had a cvs right next to it. finn got gas for the car and noah stayed with him while the girls walked across the street to cvs.

lexi walked along the medicine isle while sophie and madeline wandered around the store. they all decided they needed more medication on hand for headaches, stomachaches, or other basic illnesses.

madeline picked up a box of hair dye, "so, what are we thinking?"

"you want to dye your hair?" sophie gasped.

"kind of. i hate the dirty blonde. i feel like i would look better with a different hair color." madeline explained.

"totally. i think it'd be a nice change." sophie agreed.

madeline observed the different colors of hair dye.

"what color are you thinking?" sophie asked.

"lets go with black." madeline decided.

"ooh! i like that. that's definitely gonna be a change." sophie grabbed one of the boxes of black hair dye.

"you know, if you're dying your hair, i might as well just dye mine too!" sophie chuckled.

"you dyed your hair black like two months ago sophie!" madeline exclaimed.

"three months, actually! that's long enough. i think? but that's besides the point!" sophie started looking between the brighter color hair dye's.

"your hair is basically dead now, soph." madeline sighed.

"yeah, yeah! we know. that's why it's so short. but i'll be fine." sophie grabbed a bleach kit for her hair since she would have to bleach it first since it's so dark.

"you might need some of this too," sophie held a bleach kit, "your hair isn't that dark but you never know."

"okay. i think you should go with purple. you did orange in the beginning of the school year, but you've never done purple." madeline suggested.

"good call." sophie smiled and picked up purple box dye and tossed the black dye to madeline.

"hey guys i got the medicine- woah are you dying your hair again? and mads! you're dying your hair too!" lexi squealed.

"yeah, wanna get some dye for your hair too, lex?" sophie chuckled.

"no but let's get you out of here before you try and get supplies for another piercing." lexi clarified.

"fine. but thanks for the idea!" sophie giggled.

the girls got in line to check out. lexi went first which gave madeline time to think everything over.

"you're not rethinking this, right?" sophie chuckled.

"no of course not!" madeline said nervously.

"trust me, you'll love it." sophie smiled.

"i'm loving this new madeline. risk taker, or whatever." sophie smirked and handed the cashier her items.
