not an update. please read!

i'm sorry if anyone thought this was an update, but i need to bring attention to a topic. please continue reading as this is very important.

as you should all know, george floyd was recently murdered by a police officer. this is UNACCEPTABLE. he was killed for a "forged check" which was not even forged. george is not the first black person to be killed for his skin color.

these are only the most RECENT black men and women killed. this is not okay in any circumstance.

i am a white female in america and i am embarrassed that other white people are still doing this, especially cops. the police are supposed to protect us, not kill people because of their skin color.

i still see multiple white people not speaking up about this every day. if you are not speaking up, you are apart of the problem.
WHITE SILENCE = VIOLENCE
being neutral is taking the side of the oppressor. you can say this "doesn't concern you" but that just shows your privilege in a bad way. i hear people say that they don't talk about it because they are "disgusted, uncomfortable, or tired" but black people are tired of LIVING THIS.

if you are not speaking up and using your platform, i am going to assume you do not care and are possibly racist.

i still can't believe in 2020, this is an issue. we are all the same underneath. we all bleed red. we are all equal, if that wasn't obvious. no one should have to fear for their life because of their skin color. this is so unfair. as a white female, i don't have to worry about being killed or hurt because i am white. i have white privilege and if you are white, SO DO YOU. so recognize your privilege and use it to help stand by our black friend's and family.

the media and news are continuing to show the "bad" side of all of these protests and riots. if you take a look at twitter and instagram, you can see that cops are the reason all of this violence breaks out. they are peaceful until the cops come and make it a riot. there are also fake protesters going around looting stores and vandalizing to make the protesters look bad.

in los angeles, cops are boxing protesters in until curfew so they can shoot them with real bullets and arrest them. protesters are being led to jail buses by cops and are being teargassed for NO reason. teargas isn't even legal in the military yet they are using it on peaceful, harmless protesters.

people are being ran over and shot at. this is not okay! multiple people have died during these protests too, which is not what should be happening.

i know that there is not a lot of us can do, especially if we are minors and there are not protests around us but please continue to stay educated.

they have many petitions, phone numbers, donations, etc! petitions are free and take less than 10 minutes to sign a large amount of them. do not donate to change.org btw! they don't give the profits to the people who create the petitions.

all i'm asking you guys is to be aware, use your platform! you have a voice! you better be using it. sign petitions, donate, repost anything to spread awareness. EDUCATE PEOPLE. if your peers are not educated and spreading false information, educate them.

if you're going to protests, BE SAFE. BE CAREFUL.
