at about 7:00, they had arrived in colorado. they didn't want to stop driving yet considering they were near nevada and getting closer and closer to california.

it was less than a week until the fourth of july. the fourth of july was always an exciting time but, in california there were hundreds of spaces for fireworks, parties, and celebrations.

as soon as they got into california, their plans were to stay in lexi's aunts vacation house. it had about seven rooms and was overall a huge area.

"never have i ever made out with someone at school." lexi stated.

the five teens were playing a game of never have i ever. sophie was driving with finn in the passenger seat. lexi, noah, and madeline were in the back.

"i have." finn replied.

"same." sophie said.

"yeah, same." noah cleared his throat.

"noah!" madeline slapped his shoulder, "we're best friends and you never told me that!"

"i didn't think you'd be curious." noah chuckled.

"next one, never have i ever went on a blind date." sophie laughed.

"yeah i have because you guys set me up on one last year! i will never forgive you for that!" lexi clarified.

"come on it was hilarious!" finn emphasized the word 'hilarious.'

"yeah to you guys! how hard do you think it was for me to enjoy a date with noah's cousin while you guys were dressed in stupid costumes at the table across from us?" lexi exclaimed.

"i mean if it makes you feel any better, my cousin still sometimes says that he liked that date and that you're cute." noah chuckled.

"no that does not make me feel better!"

megan, lexi, madeline, and sophie were hanging out in lexi and sophie's hotel room. it was about 8:30 pm.

"so lex, how are you and chosen?" megan asked.

"we're good. but he still hasn't asked me out yet. we've gone on like three dates, he kissed me on our last date! what am i doing wrong?" lexi groaned.

"i think you should ask him out." sophie said.

"what? what makes you think i could-" lexi started.

"think about it. you are an empowering and strong woman. you really don't need to wait for him to ask you out, lex." madeline explained.

"you know, you're right. but could you even imagine me having the confidence to do that?" lexi laughed.

"you had the confidence to kiss him first so you can have the confidence to ask him out!" sophie exclaimed.

"touché."

"mads, how are you and noah?" megan asked curiously.

"as good as we can be." madeline hesitated.

"did you guys get into a fight or something?" lexi asked.

"no no no. it's just- i like him, a lot. and there's nothing i can do about it." madeline sighed.

"did she just-" megan gasped.

"wait i've never really admitted that before. i like noah schnapp! oh my god!" madelaine squealed.

"tell him how you feel! do it you won't." sophie laughed.

"yeah you're right. i won't do that." madeline chuckled.

"wimp." sophie laughed and fell onto the bed.

"hey, you have no room to talk!" madeline said.

"really? and why's that?" sophie raised her eyebrow.

"cause, uh, your hair's almost dead because you dye it so much!" madeline struggled to find an insult.

"so what i dye my hair a lot of colors! i have never had a crush on the boy who fell on his face at his first track meet!" sophie exclaimed.

"oh shut up!" madeline threw a pillow at her while megan and lexi were too busy laughing.

"i know we're having a lot of fun right now, like usual, but i really need to talk to you guys about something." megan sighed.

"of course, what's up?" lexi responded.

"so yesterday i was hanging out with jaeden, and you know we sorta made out for like twenty minutes." megan mumbled.

"megan! oh my god! he likes you!" lexi squealed.

"no he doesn't-"

"he wouldn't make out with someone he doesn't like!" madeline clarified.

"okay but anyways, our door was opened a little because jaeden forgot to shut it and rebecca saw us and literally recorded us." megan said, the anger coming back.

"are you kidding? what the hell?" lexi exclaimed.

"that's so creepy! couldn't you report her for that?" sophie asked.

"rebecca gets away with everything! and she said she would send the video to everyone, including my parents, if i didn't help her get back at madeline for something." megan explained.

"and jaeden said he would talk to her but she completely ignored him this morning and wouldn't listen to him. plus, she said she's sending the video out tonight if i don't help her." megan added.

"okay that's a new low, even for rebecca." sophie crossed her arms.

"what can we even do to help?" lexi said softly.

"wait! guys! i think i know what we can do." madeline gasped.

"what?" they said in unison.

"so you said that she wants blackmail on me? what if we make up some stupid fake story about me that megan can go tell rebecca and then get her to delete the video." madeline suggested.

"wait that's a great idea!" megan sighed in relief.

"so what lie are we making up about mads?" lexi giggled.

"how bad does it need to be? or can we just say something really stupid?" sophie asked.

"i don't know but rebecca told me to meet her in twenty minutes and that's when you guys are going over to finn's room, so we have to work fast." megan said.
