28: And Another Arm Bites the Dust

The drama club is getting ready for the new year's performance... It sure is nice to just be helping with costumes this year. I feel very creative! You smiled at yourself. Although you enjoyed your time with Louis, it was a breath of fresh air to see your friends. Even Legoshi had been spending a bit more time at the club. It was if everyone's faith in each other was renewed now that Pina was in charge.

"Els, do you need help stretching out?" You smiled and asked. A lot of stage crew helped the dance crew stretch. "I promise I will try really hard not to scratch you!  I filed my nails down last night."

She rolled her eyes but accepted your help. Kibi went to help Tao, Fudge helped the ring-tailed lemur you had once seen talking with Els, and Dom had just finished helping Sheila and was now speaking with Legoshi.

"Hey, do you want me to stretch you too, like Kibi and Tao?" Els asked with a giggle. "They're so goofy."

"Ha! Sure." You smiled and hid your teeth. But the smiles and the laughs of the club did not last long. A disgusting sound tore from the left of you and you heard a hideous shriek.

"Wh-What? WHAT!? OOOOHHHH!" Tao yowled in fear and dropped Kibi's now unattached arm to the floor. "NO! I didn't! I oh what did I... You saw that, right?? RIGHT?! That was an accident! You've gotta believe me!!!" He suddenly grabbed Els from you and shook her wildly. You growled and stepped in between her and Tao, shielding her from him. Bill ran up quickly to contain his friend. It was once every five years or so that this happened in Cherryton... but it wasn't uncommon out in the world.

"Stop it! Calm down!! They're scared! We're all scared!" Tao was hyperventilating and you were petting Els to calm her down. "All right, someone needs to take Kibi to the infirmary! I'll hold Tao."

"Are you okay?" You asked Els.

"Y-Yeah, just a bit surprised." She shook her head.

"My arm..." Kibi cried as Bill motioned for Aoba to get him. "Don't touch me, you carnivore!! I don't want to lose another arm!!"

"Hey, don't worry. I'll be really careful. I have wings anyway... Someone needs to bring you to the infirmary. Trust me, Kibi! You need to trust a carnivore with strength to help you." Aoba was trying his best to be calm and reassuring.

"I can't... I'm scared!" He was holding his arm, which luckily wasn't bleeding as much as you thought it would. "I'm so scared. YN? Can you carry me?" He looked to you with scared eyes.

You walked over and frowned. You were a small omnivore. You hugged him and whispered in his ear.

"I'm not strong enough, Kibi, but could maybe Legoshi help?"

"I'll... I'll let Legoshi carry me..." He conceded as the wolf quickly approached him.

"A-Alright..." With minimal effort, scooped up the anteater. "I'm off to the infirmary. Good luck with the rest, guys." Legoshi turned his attention to the poor herbivore in his arms. "Are you comfortable like this?"

"Yeah..." You held his hand and walked with Legoshi out the door.

"I'll hurry there. Sorry if I shake."  Legoshi paused. "Oh, the arm's needed. Can someone hold that for me?"

"Okay! I'll hold it for you! I should cover it too... It's best that no one sees it." Riz was first to respond.

The two large carnivores took off quickly, and you had to admit it was hard to keep up with them.

"Will they take me to the hospital?" Kibi asked.

"Probably..." You thought. "I think the nurse will call an ambulance. I'll visit you when I can. And when you're out of the hospital, we can go downtown and get ourselves some antshakes. That's a promise." You nodded at Kibi.

"Okay..."
