░▒▓█▓▒░ Awsten uses all the self-control he has to wait to call until a reasonable time in the morning. When he finally does call, it's nine am on what he knows to be Skylar's day off from what she mentioned on their date. His call is answered on the second ring, but not by the person he was expecting. "Who're you and why're you calling my mommy," Ryan gets right to the point, sounding suspicious. "Oh! Ry, hey," Awsten greets awkwardly, "I'm the blue-" "Magic man," Ryan fills in excitedly, "d'you have magic to make people happy? Mommy is sad and she shouldn't be sad." "She's sad? What's going on?" Awsten shows immediate concern. "Christy said it was jus' adult stuff," Ryan informs him, "but I think she was lying." "Right," Awsten mumbles, suddenly questioning whether or not this is a good idea. "Can you give the phone to your mom? I wanted to talk to her about some things." "Magic things?" Ryan inquires in excitement. "Yeah, of course," Awsten confirms, unable to stop himself from smiling. "First you gotta promise not to make her more sad." "I promise. I'm actually hoping to make her happy." Awsten hears Ryan walking and then he hears Skylar's voice but not loud enough to understand the words. "Awsten," Skylar greets hesitantly, "I really don't think us talking is the best idea. I told you I don't wanna risk Ryan getting caught up in anything with your fans." "Wait, no, just hear me out," Awsten requests, taking her pause as signal to continue. "So, Jawn had a really good idea. The only reason we got any backlash is 'cause I posted about the date kind of a lot. If neither of us post about it, no one will know and no one gets to have an opinion about it other than us. We just gotta not put anything about our relationship out on social media." "Oh, so it's a relationship now?" Skylar's question is obviously teasing but Awsten gets flustered. "I mean, well, not really but, uh, I mean, it's dates, dating sort of and dating is almost a relationship but not there yet and hopefully we'll get to that point eventually but I don't know right now I'm kinda just hoping for a chance," he rambles nervously, "but really, it's up to you right now so, uh, yeah, that's where we stand right now so, yeah." Skylar hesitates, thinking over Awsten's suggestion. "Do you think we can really keep this secret?" Skylar questions thoughtfully. "I think we could. Keep our dates small and don't post about it.
