░▒▓█▓▒░ "Mommy," Ryan gets her attention as Skylar makes dinner for the two of them, "do you ever miss Awsten?" Skylar pauses, caught off guard but tries to push that away as quick as possible. "Why?" Skylar avoids answering the question. "Do you?" "Kinda," Ryan admits with a shrug, "but I'm still mad at him. He made you cry." "It's not his fault. Things just got all mixed up," she gives a vague explanation, "c'mon, lets get your hands washed, the food's just about done." Ryan nods and hops down off his chair, hurrying over to the sink so Skylar can lift him up and help him wash his hands. After that, he sits back down as she readies a plate for him. He mumbles a quiet thank you, clearly still thinking over their brief conversation. His mind quickly goes elsewhere though since he isn't too fond of thinking about Awsten. "D'you think the other kids at school are gonna like me?" Ryan inquires, seeming excited. "I wanna make lots of friends tomorrow but I don't know if anyone's even gonna like me! How'd you and Christy become friends? Did you like each other right away?" "Pretty much," Skylar responds, thinking back on first meeting her best friend. "But not all friendships are the same. Either way, I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends." "I hope so," Ryan comments thoughtfully, "I don't wanna have no friends at school 'cause I think that'd get lonely all alone at school. I mean, at home I got you but you can't come to school with me. Are you gonna make friends at your school? Do people even make friends at grown-up school?" "I think I'm just gonna focus on school work," Skylar says dismissively, "I have enough people in my life already." "Are you scared to make friends again 'cause someone might make you cry like Awsten did? I'm kinda scared of that," Ryan admits hesitantly, "I don't wanna hurt like that." "Oh, honey, I don't think you gotta worry about that," Skylar tries to ease his worries, "I think you're a little young to go out and break your heart, or anyone else's for that matter."
