░▒▓█▓▒░ "You're...you can't—how the fuck—I used a condom! I fucking...holy fuck, I didn't," Awsten is starting to panic. "Shit, fuck—this isn't real, holy shit, this isn't happening—" "It's real," Skylar cuts in, sounding terrified. "Aws, please tell me you're gonna be part of this. I can't do it alone again...please—" "Never. I'd never put all this on you," Awsten is firm in his reply, which is a bit surprising to Skylar. With his original reaction, she was honestly scared that he'd want nothing to do with this. "I wanna be there for you and...y'know...I was just...this caught me way off guard. I'll get to you as soon as I can, okay? Just...I don't know, try not to stress too much. That's bad for babies, I think. That's what movies and stuff say." ●☆●☆●☆●☆● Not long later, Awsten is trying and failing to find a flight. Nothing on short notice is available, or affordable for that matter. He gives up on that search, deciding to just drive. With all the booked up flights, he'd get there sooner by driving than flying. He knows he should probably put more planning into this and actually talk to at least one of his friends before going but he doesn't really want to wait. He throws some clothes in a suitcase, packs up any essentials, and heads out. He decides last second to text Geoff before he leaves, simply telling him that he's headed to New York and needs him to take care of Jet. After that, he turns off his notifications so that he won't have to talk through this with anyone. He just wants to get to Skylar. Well, he also wants to figure out what the hell this means for them. Are they going to get back together? Are they going to stay broken up and try to still raise the kid together? If they don't get back together, which one of them gets primary custody or do they split it evenly? Is there even a way to split it evenly? Awsten isn't really sure how parenting works. Geoff had once joked that Awsten was basically becoming a dad to Ryan and Awsten felt proud but he was unsure what he did to be fitting of that title. What did he do right? What did he do wrong? What can he do better? He tries to stop thinking so much, just focusing on the road ahead of him and listening to the directions from Google Maps. He drives almost all night before, after nearly falling asleep at the wheel, deciding to stop for a few hours of sleep. The next morning, he's on the road again. ░▒▓█▓▒░
