6 MONTHS TO THE PRESENT DAY...

[ HENRY'S POV ]

'Coffee?'

I nod tiredly up to Char as I sprawl myself on the sofa, leaning up so I can make her out in the kitchen. She looks tired herself as she pours way too much sugar in both of our drinks. I feel exhausted like properly sleep forever exhausted, so yeah a coffee's a good idea. And to be clear I'm not even that hangover, it's just according to Charlotte we decided to stay until Jasper left with Patina. He had decided to leave with her to make up for 'loss' time, gross, really didn't need to know that, mate. But all of that left me and her walking home alone in silence, and then passing out on the sofa togthger. I weren't even that annoyed at her more just at our situation, but with no Jasper around to lighten the mood, it just meant more silence.

To be honest, I was just having trouble adjusting to this new life, especially after our small spat at the bar last night.

'Here.' She thrusts the cup into my outstrecthed hand then throws herself down beside me on the couch.

'Sorry,' I mumble, as I take a sip of the warm beverage. I guess now it's my time to say sorry. She waits watching our flickering TV for a while before even addresses me.

'It's fine Henry - let's just find something we can all do that we'll all enjoy,' She states back her expression softing, 'Let's talk about something else, okay? Patina and Jasper though...'

I laugh as she begins to complain about if Jasper was to get a girlfriend how it would change the whole dynamic of the group. And god, I hope not, I really hope that doesn't apply to me as well. On a brighter note though her answer about the whole job thing isn't perfect but it's good enough for now. It still leaves crime fighting as a slim possible chance - one that I'm really willing to take. Not matter what it costs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte wanted to spend the rest of the day finding us a new placement and with no Jasper, I decided to head off to the shops in hope for something fun to do. While not at all pretty from the outside, it still had its wonders to it, therefore I had spent most of my time exploring the bars and fight clubs near our flat, but shops not so much. Then there was also my fasincation with how much of a hot spot for crime this place was over here, you couldn't walk very far without hearing sirens in the distance.

A hand thrusts itself in front of my face from a reporter who is rapidly asking me questions from a sheet of paper, while a man films me from the sidelines.

'Young man, what's your opinion on neighbouring city Swellview's Captain Man? Do you think Dystopia would be safer with a superhero protecting it's people? Or do you think it would just increase crime?' I squint, avoiding eye contact with the camera and try to think of an answer. So many questions in the space of seconds, and not helping me try to break away from my own worries at all. The reporter eggs me on thrusting the mic further towards my face obviously anxious to speed along the process. And here I am standing like an idiot.

But this is the perfect opportunity to do something, this is literally the sign I was looking for.

'I think... I think, ' I try to stand more confident of myself as  I carry on, 'This town does need someone like Captain Man and Kid Danger. And if no one's going to do it - ' I pause taking in the distant shouts and cries around me. This is exactly the moment I was waiting for.

'Then I'll do it.'

Laughter. Lots of it. It rings out around me, not exactly the response I had wanted. The crew moves on forcing others into question, as I stand defeated by my own aggrocance. Hero? No. I'm no hero. I'm no Ray Manchester, I'm no one at all. Someone taps me on my shoulder and I turn around to come face to face with a tall young man, who appears better dressed than me and clearly hasn't been embarrased on live TV recently.

'That's pretty confident of you to say - I wouldn't have the balls. You're right though, this town does need someone.' He tucks his hands in his pockets swaying back and forth on the balls of his feet. 'You're Henry Hart, right? I'm Blake.'

Little note: You've now obviously met Blake, so now everything gets more intense and more action packed. Hope you're enjoying this and thank you for nearly 100 reads.
