A Funeral. The last day of pity. From the death to the funeral everyone would crowd you, show affection, offer condolence but the next morning... forgotten. Life goes on. Everyone around you goes back to their normal lives and you are left drowning in your loss. That's how Molly felt. She was about to drown, she was sat in front of her vanity mirror, black dress on, braiding her jet black hair into a crown updo. As her fingers moved along the braid she remembers the feeling of Tammy's hands doing the same. Tammy had been her mother since she was 10 years old. Adoptive, of course. Molly's real parents were drug addicts, they left her at the hospital after birth. Her real mother just ran out the door, never to be seen again, leaving Molly in an incubator surrounded by other premature babies.
'A dark past builds a brighter future' Tammy had told her this on her 16th birthday. And now, just before her 20th Tammy's future... was gone. Molly had to accept that, she added the black roses Olivia had ordered to her hair and one to the right shoulder strap of her dress, slipped on her heels and stood. Ready. Ready? Could she ever really be ready to say goodbye to her only mother figure? She had to be. Today was about acceptance and goodbyes.
"Molly." Kelly sighed as she entered the room.
Instantly, she came to her side and looked at her in the mirror. "The car is here, love, it's time." She continued. Kelly pulled Molly into a hug before pulling back and fiddling with the roses, attempting to make them neater somehow. She rubbed Molly's arms and smiled, "come on love."The burial was beautiful, a perfect aesthetic black. Molly was the last to arrive, she stepped out of the funeral car and all eyes were on her. She walked down the path, the coffin carried behind her and stood next to the grave. Gavin, Tammy's co-worker and best friend, had written her eulogy, Molly refused. It was too much for her.
'Here lies a mother and friend...'
_______________________________Across town, Ragley Rehabilitation Centre was letting out a patient, a mysterious man with dirty blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
"I'm out." He laughs as the black limousine pulls up on the curb. He spreads his arms out and laughs as the window rolls down. "Hey Marve," he chuckled at the driver. "Welcome back, sir." The driver nods. The passenger window rolled down and a hand extended holding an unlit cigarette. "Father!" Yells the man as he takes the cigarette and lights it. "How's the streets?" He asked in a mocking tone. "Down." His father grunted. "I'm back now, pops, I'll get it back together." He assured his father as he opened the door to climb in. The windows rolled back up and their journey began. "But was this really necessary? I mean what a punishment!" He bellowed bursting into laughter as he finished his sentence. "Settle down son, we have work to do."
