Where Is She?

I just couldn't believe he invited Lindsie to hang out with us! I thought as I walked up my street. He knows how I feel about her. She's such a bitch and she's been rude to me ever since I came here. And she's a cheerleader. Who the hell wants a bitchy cheerleader? I keep forgetting who I'm talking about here...it's Jon. Lindsie is a skank, slut and he knows it. I just wish he wouldn't blow me off for her.  My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out to see a text message from Jon.

I'm sorry Maddy. Please don't be angry with me.

I rolled my eyes and put my phone back. I'm not going to have a conversation with him right now. I made my way up the driveway to the side of the house and walked in the side door at the garage. I locked the doors and walked behind the cars towards the kitchen

"Where have you been?"

He smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech. I knew that no matter what this wasn't going to end well. He started drinking and taking it out on us right before we moved here. He cheated on my mom with his young legal assistant. My mom found out and so did everyone at the law firm. He lost his job and he almost lost my mom. She still hasn't fully forgiven him for it and that's why he drinks. He's guilty.

"I was at the wrestling tournament at school"

"Why are you so late?"

"I'm sorry. I walked home. My friend was still in the tournament and I had no ride."

"Don't mouth off to me!"

"I'm not."

"Who is this boy?!" He yelled as he slapped my face "What are you doing with this boy!?!"

"Nothing! He's just my friend!"

"Don't lie to me!"

"I'm not. He's just my friend!"

I was screaming and sobbing at this point. I saw the leather belt in his other hand and I knew what it meant.

"You're lying"  he yelled as he hit me with the belt.

I curled into a ball on the floor of the garage and screamed with every hit. It seemed like hours before he stopped.

"I worry about you Madison." He got in my face "Stay away from that boy"

Jon's POV:

I sat down at the lunch table and looked around trying to find Madison. I hadn't talked to her or seen her since the tournament a week ago and I was worried

"She's not here Jon. She hasn't been here all week"

"I know. I'm worried. I wish she'd talk to me. She won't answer my calls or my texts. I shouldn't have invited Lindsie to hang out with us."

"You did WHAT?"

"I know...I know...I know"

"You sure you know? Why would you do that? You know they don't get along. You know how Maddy feels about you...why the hell would you be so stupid?"

"What do you mean 'how Maddy feels about you'?"

"Wait...you can't sit here and tell me you don't know. Come on Jon. Really?"

I shrugged "What? We're just best friends. It's not like that"

"You sure?"

"Yeah positive. Why? What'd she tell you?"

"Nothing. Prom should be fun though. I'd say me, you, Lindsie and Maddy could all go together, but I don't think that's a good idea."

I nearly choked on my Mountain Dew when Jeff said that. I coughed and looked over at him as he shrugged his shoulders and smirked. There's no way she'd go to the prom with him. Would she? It was something I was going to have to ask her if she ever talked to me again. She's never this quiet especially with me and I'm worried I really screwed up when I wanted her to hang out with Lindsie and I. The bell rang and I made my way to my next class. I walked past her locker and sighed. I needed to find a way to see her or talk to her.
