My Best Friends Wedding

Bad Decisions

I looked around the room hoping that Madison would walk in the door. I didn't want to believe my best friend would ditch me on my wedding day. Then again I shamelessly slept with her and ditched her knowing exactly how she feels about me.

The light turned green and I made the left turn towards the public lot downtown. I hadn't been back here in years, but it was like I had never left. The bulidings never changed and neither did the scenery. I always missed it in the spring. I walked out of the lot and towards the large cluster of buildings where Madison worked. The security guard at the door gave me a guest pass and I headed up to the 5th floor to see Maddy. She changed her number and moved several years ago. I was always too afraid to contact her after what happened. I knew leaving the way I did was going to hurt more than anything. I was always afraid she was giong to hate me and never speak to me again so I just cut her off on my own to avoid it all. Looking back I knew I shouldn't have done that to her. I shouldn't have married Julia either when I still loved Madison as much as I did....as much as I do.

I walked out of the elevator and onto the floor. I looked around, but didn't see her office.

"Jon?"

I turned to see Danny looking at me confused. I half smiled and held out my hand to shake his. He reluctantly took it and polietly shook my hand.

"Soooo....uhh...what are you doing here?"

"I came by...I was in town and wanted to see...."

"She doesn't work here anymore. She quit about 2 years ago."

"Quit? Why?"

"Personal reasons. A lot has changed you know."

"Yeah I know" I sighed nodding

He scribbled something on a piece of paper and handed it to me and half smiled

"If she asks. I didn't give you any of this"

I crumpled the paper and shoved it in the pocket of my leather jacket and made my way back to my car. I took the information and plugged it into my GPS and made my way to see Maddy.

Maddy's POV:

"Carly! Please pick up this mess"

I was tired of tripping all over the stuffed animals on the floor. Besides I knew when Rick got home it was going to be a big deal because "SHE" left a mess. I looked down at the bruise on my arm and rubbed it gently looking at the clock to make sure I had plenty of time to clean and cook before he came home.

"Carly...PLEASE!!!"

I started to clean up the mess when she came out of her room clutching another bear. She looked so much like him it was crazy, but it made me smile. We cleaned up the mess and I sent her back to her room so I could cook dinner. I threw some ingredients in the saute pan and surveyed the house to make sure it was spotless. There couldn't be any dirt or any dust when Rick got home. I sighed to myself and got lost in thought

Maddy this is a big mistake

You think I don't know that?

He hates Carly and he's a douche bag to you. What are you doing? You're quitting because HE wants you to. You spent all this time investigating and removing children from this same situation. You became a social worker to HELP children because of how you grew up....look at what you're doing
