Well, that fucking backfired. I sighed flopping down on the bed and groaning in annoyance. I thought for sure that dragging Julia to a karaoke bar and forcing to sing in public would work. I looked up at the clock on the nightstand. Really? It's only 11:30? Not only was Julia too young to drink, but apparently she had a curfew and bedtime to adhere to. What the hell is he doing with her??

Tonight was just like old times. He and I hadn't sat down drinking beers and sharing stories in so long. I'd missed it so much. I laughed to myself thinking about that Germany trip. He'd been there before for work, but I'd never been. The fact that we were even allowed on the plane was a shock. That whole trip was a whirl wind. No plans. No timelines. Just Jon and I exploring and having a good time. Maybe too good of a time. I scooted back on the bed and closed my eyes lost in thought

Do you have something?

Do I ever? he smirked

He rolled off the top of me and laid back. Both of us completely spent. I cuddled close as he wrapped his arms around me. We both needed a shower; sticky and hot. We laid in the silence together as he softly caressed my arm and I smiled snuggling close.

"Shit!" I muttered quickly climbing out of bed, walking to the bathroom. I heard him chuckle as he watched me step into the bathroom to clean up

"Shut up Jon! It's not funny"

"Yeah it is"

"No, it's not. We need to be more careful. We're playing with fire. What are you going to do if I end up pregnant? Hmm? Thought about that at all?"

I flushed the toilet, shut off the light and crawled back into bed laying my head on his chest. I knew that last comment was going to shut him up. I knew he didn't want kids and neither did I really. At least not right now, but we weren't being as careful as we should've.  I traced my finger across his chest and he smiled and took my hand holding it and kissed my forehead.

"Maddy!  Hey! You awake?"

The shaking on my foot jolted me awake and I sat up with a start. I smiled seeing Jon standing at the foot of my bed smiling back at me. I keep forgetting he has a key for some reason. We stared at each other for a second before I shook my head slightly and looked away

"What are you doing here?"

"Did you want to hang out? Jules fell asleep and you know how I like late nights."

I nodded crawling to the edge of the bed and bending down to put on my shoes. I could feel him watching me intently and I looked up from tying my shoe and gave him a confused look

"What?"

"You're quiet."

"I just woke up. You know how I am."

He nodded as we walked together to the elevator. The doors slid open and we stepped in standing on opposite sides of the cart. I stood watching him lost in thought. I wonder what would happen if I hit the stop button and just went for it. That might freak him out a bit though, but it sure would be fun.

"Madison! Earth to Madison!!"

I jumped slightly and looked to see Jon standing in the lobby holding open the door. I blushed and walked out with my head down. I heard him sigh and I couldn't tell if he was annoyed or had something else on his mind. We walked silently to his car. I watched him as he got in and started the engine and drove us to a 7-11.

"What are we doing?"

"Getting some snacks. I'm driving somewhere out of the way"

I got out of the car and followed him inside. We wandered around picking up a few snacks. He grabbed a couple 12 packs of beer and walked to the counter. I threw my snacks on the counter as he paid. I kept watching and studying him. Something was for sure on his mind. It was bothering him. The two of us climbed into the car and he started driving. I had no idea where he was going. He pulled off somewhere and got out. I got out of the car and walked back to the trunk where he was digging around for something.
