I woke up to the sound of my phone going off over and over. I sleepily grabbed it from my nightstand and tried to focus on the screen. I rubbed my eyes into focus and grinned from ear to ear and answered

"HI!"

"Good morning beautiful. Want to take a road trip with me?"

"Yes, I'd love to. Where?"

"Sharonville"

"What's in Sharonville?"

"I want to go check out a wrestling school. I want you to come with me. You still want to?"

I pretended to think about it while quietly laughing

"uhhhh I don't know. Sharonville is kinda far....and...I..."

"PLEASE Maddy!! Please!!! I love you"

"Of course I still want to go silly!! When will you be here?" I said while laughing

"Give me an hour"

"I'll be waiting."

I took a quick shower and put on a casual, but cute outfit. I even took the time to do my hair a little and put on a small amount of make-up. I've been trying a little harder now that Jon is my boyfriend. I put on my Nike's and headed towards the stairs when I heard the familiar clanging of bottles and one tapping the top of a glass. Great...he's drunk already.

"Where are you going?"

I looked across the hall to see my brother poking his head out of the door of his room. I looked at him and put my finger to my lips

"Shut up Kieran. I'm going out." I whispered

"Yeah but where?"

He was talking loud on purpose. He knew that if he made a big enough fuss my dad would come down on me and not him. I wanted to punch him in the face, but he was only 10 and I didn't want him to cry because then I would get it worse

"None of your business twerp! Now shut up!!"

"Are you going out with that guy?"

My eyes got wide and I walked over to him and he smirked at me. I knew the little shit was doing it on purpose. Especially since mom was away for a few days. He tried to shut the door before I could say anything, but I put my hand on it and held it open with my foot

"Shut. Up Kieran!! Yes, I'm going out with Jon. Now leave me alone and stop trying to get me in trouble."

"Can I come?"

"No, you can't come. Now be quiet."

I knew I hurt his feelings by telling him no, but I also knew taking him outside of Cincinnati would be an even worse idea. I turned to leave and made it to the top of the stairs

"But Maddy I thought you weren't allowed to go out with that boy!"

I quickly turned around and he slammed his door laughing. I heard the ominous footsteps as I made my way halfway down the stairs. He stumbled to the bottom and yelled up like he had no idea I was standing about 15 feet from him

"WHAT'S GOING ON UP THERE!?!?!"

I backed my way up the stairs as he marched up, spilling his drink as he stumbled.

"Nothing"

"What's with all of the slamming doors?"

"Nothing. It was an accident."

"Where are you going?"

"Out with some friends"

"LIAR" Kieran yelled from behind the door and my heart started racing. The little shit just threw me under the bus!! I could feel the tears start to sting my eyes and I didn't want to cry because it would ruin what little makeup I did have on. I felt my phone buzzing in my back pocket and I knew Jon was calling me to let me know that he was down the street. I never had him pick me up in front of the house anymore because I had been forbidden to see him.
