Meeting His Best Friend...

Chp. 15

I got out of the car and followed in Mr. C's steps as we approached the door. I bit my lip as I started to wonder why didn't he talk to both of us. We entered the house and immediately saw Jack pacing back and forth in the hall. He had a Jacket and was nearly ready to leave.

"Jack, we need to talk," Jack's dad sounded sympathetic and calm.

"Thank goodness your back! Sorry dad but Ethan and I have a meeting with Legoshi, remember?" Jack grabbed my hand as we rushed outside.

I looked back only to see Jack's dad looking at us with a sad expression. He looked so much like Jack, he looked much more relatable to a normal person. But before I knew it Jack was pulling me out of the driveway and I lost sight of him.

"Hey, Jack... I need to tell you something," I said dimly as we started to run towards a local cafe.

"One sec," Jack was focused on one goal

My legs and stamina were much stronger, I feel like I could run for hours on end. Jack and I were running at an alike pace and we soon reached the cafe. Inside I saw a gray wolf sitting by the window. When he saw us his tail started wagging. Jack's tail was wagging in unison as we ented the building.

"Hey, Legoshi!" Jack waved.

"Hi, Jack, who's this?" His tail stopped wagging, he was so tall.

"This is my friend, Ethan," Jack still couldn't tell the truth, if only he knew.

"Hey, your legoshi right," I reached my hand out and smiled.

He reached for my hand and we exchanged brief nods before looking away. I had a bad feeling starting to grow, like the opposite of butterflies in your stomach.

"Hi, so um.. How long have you known Jack?" he was quite shy for a big animal I thought.

"A little while now, its a fun... uhh, nevermind," I couldn't talk about my past, I mean who would believe it?

We walked over to the table by the window and took our seats. Me on one side with Jack and Legoshi on the other. I was excited to get to know him, after all, he did save Jack. But I need to find a way to break the ice. Legoshi looked down and whispered something into Jack's ear. Jack nodded.

"Can I get you something to drink," a young lady came over and asked.

We ended up ordering the same drink, three iced matcha green tea lattes. Suddenly Legoshi opened up more, I wasn't sure why, however. He started chatting with Jack about his job at a ramen restaurant. He tried to include me in the conversation but I couldn't keep up so let him and Jack chat. Soon our drinks came and after we tried them the two got up and went by the dour to chat in private. I started to think why did they even invite me? My patience started to thin and I quickly started to gulp down my drink. It had been 10 minutes and by now I was ready to drink theirs. I sighed and decide to give them some more time. They came back five minutes later giggling.

"Jack, I'm gonna leave," I was annoyed and didn't want to keep waiting for these two.

"Oh c'mon we'll just be like five more minutes," he pleaded.

I sighed and eased into my chair. I listen to them chat about tons of topics, his new friend from the sea, and everything else. I waited for another twenty minutes.

"Ok, Jack why did you invite me?" I was tired at this point, his dad had already been bad enough.

"Well, I wanted you to-," I cut him off, I said hi and that was it!

"And I met him, Jack! I need to talk to you for a moment, please," he looked surprised and a little annoyed.

He reluctantly got out of his seat as we walked outside. He started to tap his foot and he looked at me.

"So?" Jack said, he tried to sound caring but it was more than obvious he wanted to go back inside.

"I just want to talk Jack," I tried to help him calm down.

He looked at me and sighed, he didn't understand. I need to tell him.

"We can talk later," he smiled and walked inside.

I waited for barging inside, looking at Jack. I wanted to talk to him but they just stopped trying to include me. It's like Jack was touching me by bringing me here.

"He found out!" I looked at him as my eyes started to swell.

I looked back to see the place staring at me, bit my lip, and tasted blood. I ran out the door running away from this place, towards Jack's house. The alarm started to ring, my bracelet thing was starting to act up. I stopped midway if Jack hated me... He would get rid of me... I heard footsteps behind me.

"Just leave me alone!" I yelled while turning back, only releasing it was Legoshi.

"I'm sorry you didn't feel included when I whispered to him... He told me about you guys through text and I just wanted to make sure it was you... I just wanted to catch up... I can help you know, just tell me," I looked at him like he was a child.

"You can't help, you don't understand," He looked at me with sympathy, those eyes, I didn't need that look.

"Jack got really worried, he's paying the bill but his face dropped," Legoshi sounded very worried, I'm overreacting again I thought.

The alarm on my wrist started to grow in volume. It probably didn't matter anymore, however. It slowly faded as Jack grew near.

"Ethan, he knows. He's my best friend after all," Jack said while walking over to me.

I was stunned, I was acting horribly. I sighed, sometimes it is so easy to hate yourself, I smiled lightly.

"Ok, let me tell you what happened.." I said while walking over to them.
