New Roommates

Part 2.

Chapter 2.

"Well.. we're here," Jack's father said quietly as he pulled in to the parking lot. I'm not sure what was going through his head but I'm sure saying goodbye to your child for a few months is never easy. I'm sure it was easy for my parents, my sister, everyone else.. There is a part of me whether I like it or not, hopefully, the remember don't remember me for how I went out...

"Oh c'mon dad, don't act so depressed. You've done this a ton of times," Jack playfully punched Mr. C's shoulder and chuckled. He turned his head slowly and smiled at Jack.

"Well, before you had Legoshi to be there for you," he said while glaring at me.

"Dad... You know that we're close, not only that I have the others," Jack stretched through the gap in between the front streets and hugged his dad.

"I'm sorry, I love you son. I hope to see you soon," he released Jack and unlocked the truck so we could take our luggage.

I walked outside with Jack, excited and nervous I would get to meet his roommates, His other friends, go to a new high school, Have tons of work, and I'm sure there's more. I pulled out a large backpack and handed it to Jack before taking mine. I heard another door open and saw Mr. C come over to us.

"Take care of him," he extended his arm out.

"I will," I smiled back, shaking his hand firmly.

The way he said that... I wonder, does he think I'm the top in this relationship? I mean he was the one to wall slam me! I giggled, before following Jack towards the entrance gate. I looked back one more time to see Jack's dad pulling out and driving away. I think the next time we see him we could learn to have an appreciation for one another. But I have a feeling that time isn't going to be for a while.

"So, where to next?" I asked while looking right and left, gazing upon the large, modern school.

"Well, I think we'll head to the dorms first. We keep the same dorm room every year and since there's a vacancy we'll have the pleasure of staying in the same dorm" He said while vaguely smiling.

I know he was upset that Legoshi wasn't in the same school anymore. Jack told me he moved to his own apartment. They had been good friends since childhood, side by side for all these years. For him to suddenly drop out is horrible. I understand why but why did Legoshi confront Riz? I wish it was someone else. I would rather be a school away than breaking up a friendship like theirs. I sighed, I'll think of something to do with Legoshi. I wonder does he have a significant other?

"Well just up this flight of stairs then a couple of doors down!" Jack said excitedly, tail wagging rapidly.

I giggled and looked back at my tail. Such a weird thing, I couldn't move it but I could feel it. I've never seen in wagging, perhaps, I'm still a little human. But no one would ever guess that. We walked down a hallway and Jack stopped abruptly on a door to the right. He took a small yellow key from his pocket and started to open the door.

"Creek," the door opened.

No sound came from the room, it was apparently silent. We walked towards the beds and dropped our stuff on the floor. I took a step towards Jack and started to lean in for a kiss.

"Wait! What are you doing there Voss?!" Jack screamed.

I looked back and saw a small fox with large ears on top of a closet. Laying down with a few kernels of popcorn. If it wasn't for his large ears we wouldn't have a clue he's there. I was stunned, I couldn't move and if I were still a human my face would be pale as snow.

"Darn it! Well, c'mon everyone they found me," Voss said while standing up.

Hold on a moment... So they were watching us!? If we didn't see him, I- whatever. I moved ever slow slightly, standing in a formal posture. Back straight, arms glued to my sides, and a confused smile on my face. I stood there to see a large white canine come out of the closet with hair in his eyes. I heard noises to my right and on the top bunk down there came some sort of coyote.

"You pushed me!" he said angrily while trying to get up.

I heard giggling coming from the same bed and out came another canine jumping onto his roommates back. I don't understand why I'm surprised, this is the canine dorm... but seeing each one of them sure fills me with surprise. To be fair other than the few people I know in this world, most new faces are very surprising.

"Sorry if we surprised you," the white-furred dog in the back walked towards us, stepping on his roommate knocking back onto the floor.

He held out his hand and I accepted it. A firm handshake at least some tradition is the same. I exhaled and started to relax.

"Hello, I'm Ethan. An Australian shepherd," just as Jack told me.

On our way here Jack mentioned that it is a common formality to introduce yourself with your species, especially to herbivores.

"I'm Collot, and no need for all the formalities, after all, we're all carnivores. The little baby there is Voss. Those two are Durham and Miguno, the cutest couple in all of the dorms. But it looks like we have a new couple joining the ranks?" He questioned with a grin stretching across his face.

"Well um, were dating," Jack said with his shoulders high and hands held together.

Poor Jack, he was so nervous. I need to lighten the mood to make everyone a bit happier. I started to step towards Jack.

"And you can bet we'll be taking that title," I tried to say as confidently as possible before giving a quick kiss to Jack's check.

"ETHAN!" Jack didn't like it... OH NO.

Jack pounced into his old bunk I assumed, then shut the curtain as quickly as possible. I tried to say something but I couldn't utter out a single word, I took a deep breath and suddenly realized we were still being watched.

"Shit," I whispered while slowly climbing into Jack's bunk.

"Oh my love, you bring the color to my world, wake up! Bring me joy and all the laughter in the world," I tried to sound old-timey.

"Ethan you know I love you but it was hard enough telling my dad," he said quietly, I hope the others weren't listening in.

"I'm sorry, but they're your friends they love you just as much as me," I held him for a moment.

Jack turned to face me and smiled. He looked at me straight in the eyes as he raised his leg to my stomach and kicked me violently out.

"Sorry Ethan, but revenge is revenge," he put his foot on my back.

"Fine," I got up groggy.

We looked at each other once more before facing the others. They burst into laughter, well we really put on a show...
