#91 Road Trip
Calum:
Parking the car on an abandoned parking lot, Calum lit up his phone to watch the navigation. The idea was to stop at a hotel to sleep over, but the navigation had sent you to never land, to a place that both of you never heard of.
“I don’t get it. It says it’s supposed to be here.”
“We’re lost,” you groaned.
“I vouch for that,” Calum sighed.
“Could you get the map and the pamphlets of the hotel, please babycakes?” He asked sweetly.
“They’re in the back.” As you took off your seatbelt, you climbed over the passenger seat to get to the backseat. With your rear almost in Calum’s face, and with your foot stuck underneath the seat, you tried to loosen it by rocking yourself along with the car. Not too long after, a flashlight blinded Calum and a heavy knock was heard on the window. Calum rolled it down, meeting a bored police man as he shined from Calum’s face to yours.
“What do you two think you’re doing?” the man asked, his voice was deep but calm.
“I saw the car rock,” he finished, adjusting his helmet. The man looked a little bit confused, not expecting the positions you both were in.
“We’re just lost, sir,” Calum explained, but he blushed when he understood what the man thought you were doing.
“And her foot got stuck when I asked her to get the map from the backseat.” It all sounded so silly and stupid when telling it how it was. The man cleared his throat and chuckled deeply.
“You’re actually telling me the truth, aren’t you, young folks,” Calum and you nodded as you finally got your foot free, getting back to your seat.
“Where do you need to go?” the man asked, as Calum handed him a pamphlet.
“My navigation is screwing up,” the man read it, nodding and mumbling the words to himself.
“You’re close, kids. You took a wrong turn. Just go back to where you came from and then make a right, go straight ahead and you’ll see the sign,” the police man told you in a friendly way, returning the pamphlet.
“Thank you so much, sir,” you said, flashing him a smile.
“Yeah, yeah, get out of here,” the man said, laughing a bit. As you and Calum were back on the road again, you cheered when seeing the sign of the hotel.
“Can you believe that he thought different?” you thought out loud.
“If it was 15 minutes later, it probably would have been different,” Calum said without a thought.
“In your dreams mister,” you snapped.
"Rawr,” he replied like a lion, biting the air, making you laugh as you made your way to check in.
Ashton:
Soft music was playing on the radio as Ashton drove towards the sinking sun. A golden glow lit up both your faces and Ashton’s hair, which was golden already, lit up even more. You eyed his hands that were lazily wrapped around the wheel, as his fingers drummed to the beat of the song, absentmindedly stroking the black plastic when he turned the corner. He was singing along quietly to that familiar song and he caught you staring at him in his peripheral vision. When he landed on a long stroke of straight road again he looked over at you for a couple of seconds with a small smile.
