Rings

"Jaime," I said over the phone quickly, franticness clear in my voice.

"What? Is everything alright?" He asked me, just as panicked by my tone.

"Pick me up by my apartment. I'll explain then. We need to go shopping," I spat out quickly.

"Okay-" He hung up, and the next ten minutes I stood there anxiously. I had a small time frame to do this. Kellin hated coming home to an empty house with the thought of me out by myself. And I didn't want him to know I'd gone out in the first place. It would be a complete surprise.

"So what's going on?" Jaime questioned once he arrived and I got in his car.

"We need to get to the mall, fast so I can look for what I need," I said.

"What is it we're shopping for?" Jaime looked at me, concerned. God, everyone was concerned lately. They had the right, I guess. But I wasn't stupid enough to buy blades not long after what happened and with someone.

"Rings," I replied, a smile forming on my face. Jaime realized what I meant, as he was soon squealing.

"Oh my god oh my god oh my god!! You're gonna propose!" Tears filled his eyes as if I was proposing to him.

"Yes, Jaime, I'm gonna propose to Kellin soon," I confirmed with a nod.

"Let's go! Kellin needs only the best, and you're gonna propose." His voice dropped deeply as he said 'propose,' quickly squealing afterwards.

"Relax," I chuckled. The main problem was who I would choose to be my best man, Mike or Jaime. That is if Kellin even said yes, which was another terrifying aspect.

"What if he doesn't say yes?" I asked Jaime, glancing at him.

"Of course he's gonna say yes, that boy is head over heels with you!" Jaime slapped my shoulder playfully. "Non stop, Vic this Vic that from him! Do you know how many texts I get from Kellin asking if you're okay? Making me tell you he loves you? God, it's nearly annoying! But I put up with it because you're my best friend."

I snorted. "Okay Jaime. Let's hurry along. I don't have much time."

We ran through the mall, me pulling Jaime away from stores with shirts and objects he found appealing, and finally arrived at the jewelry shop. I'd never set foot in the place before, I never even thought I'd propose to anyone. Well, except Harley. I thought we would have a future, but instead I met Kellin. I loved Harley, maybe I still do, but I am 100% happy I meant Kellin. I'm overjoyed I met that overly cheerful boy at a party I didn't want to be at.

So I walked into the white, bright jewelry store and glanced around.

"Looking for anything in particular?" A man about my height, short black hair asked.

"Uh, yeah, rings," I said.

"Oh, to propose?" The man confirmed.

I nodded. "My boyfriend." I couldn't help the smile.

The man smiled as well. "Well, come along, there's an isle of them over here." He led me to a small area while Jaime stared in awe at necklaces.

"Point to anything you like and I can take it out, see if you like it," the man informed me.

"Um, how about that one," I said, pointing to silver rings. The man nodded and took them out. Intricate designs were engraved on the rings, but I wasn't too entranced by then. "Uh, how about something else."

We went through rings quickly, but I couldn't find any I liked. The man kept assuring me it was fine, it would take awhile to find the perfect thing, but it didn't stop my frustration.

"I have something, I got it for my husband Gerard," the man said. "I think you'd like it." He disappeared into a storage room and came out with two rings in his hand.

They were a golden color, with phrases carved into them. The first one read I will always, while the other one completed with love you. It was cheesy, but I fell for it immediately. It was exactly the thing Kellin, just as corny as me, would want.

"I'll take it."
