"So, this crystal. Is what you believe gave you those powers you used on Lachlan back there ?" Calum said, turning the crystal around in his hand.

After we had escaped the woods, we retreated to my bedroom. Luckily Luke was still out on the couch and didn't hear us come in, so we had time to regroup and figure out what the hell was going on.

"Yes." I said. "It started to glow when I made contact with it and then it was back to being the color it is now."

Calum eyed it carefully, he seem to try and be figuring out what the crystal actually was.

"Where did you find it ?" He asked, I shrugged my shoulders.

"It was just sitting there on my windowsill." I said. "My window was open but i was sure I had closed it before I left."

Calum set the crystal down on the nightstand and joined me sitting on my bed. I looked at my hand that I had used to send that guy flying. The mark was gone but I could still see the strange mark in my head..

"Someone was obviously in here while you were out." Calum said. "But why leave that ?"

I shrugged my shoulders, if that crystal really gave me this power. Then who left it for me ? And why ?

"Well it did help us get away from that guy back there." I stated. "Maybe it was a one time thing kinda deal ?"

Then we heard the sound of a car pulling up to the house, Calum got up and looked out my window,  his brow soon creased with concern.

"What is it ?" I asked, walking over to take a look outside.

"Do you recognize that car ?" Calum asked, i peeked outside and saw it was the same car that I saw when Luke picked me up at the hospital !

"That car was parked down the street from the hospital when Luke came to pick me up.." I started, then the door opened and out came the same man who was staring at me that day..

"That man was watching me from that car as I left the hospital !" I said. "How did he find out where I live ?"

We both backed away from the window, I had a bad feeling about this..

"He probably followed you home after." Calum said. "We need to get out of here."

Calum rushed out of my room, I grabbed the crystal and followed him. Suddenly there was a banging on the front door, which woke Luke from his slumber.

"What the ?" Luke stammered as he got up, his gaze stopped at me and then at Calum.

Calum didn't wait for his response and rushed to push the couch in front of the door to prevent whoever that guy was from getting inside.

"What the hell man ?" Luke demanded. "What are you doing ?"

"You don't want that man getting inside, trust me." Calum replied, Luke went to peek out the window but he stopped him.

"What the hell ? Get your hands off me !" Luke spat, I rushed up to try and calm him down.

"Luke ! Calm down okay ?" I pleaded. "Trust me you don't want that man outside knowing we're here."

"What do you mean ?" Luke asked. "And who the hell is this guy ?"

The banging grew louder as the man grew impatient.

"Hailey is there a backdoor ?" Calum asked.

"Yeah, why ?" I asked confused, Calum rushed towards the back of the house to check.

Suddenly I could hear the man outside shout from behind the door.

"Hailey, I know you're in there." He said. "Don't be afraid, I just want to talk."

Whenever anyone said that, it almost never lead to a good conversation. I rushed to find Calum, Luke followed close behind me as we found him unlocking the backdoor.

"He knows my name." I said, Calum looked back at me grimly.

"What the fuck is going on ?" Luke chimed in.

The next thing we know, the man is ramming the door. The frame shakes as he try's to force it open.

"We have to go." Calum said. "No time to explain, let's GO !"

He didn't need to tell me twice as I heard the door crack, I rushed out the back door.

"You coming blondie ?" Calum asked, Luke glared at him.

"Why should I trust you ?" Luke demanded, the door cracked more with each moment.

"If you wanna deal with the man outside by all means stay !" Calum said sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Seriously that man is not someone you want to mess with."

Luke sighed but finally gave in when he saw the scared look on my face. We ran out the back, slipping out of my backyard from the hole in the fence that my parents never fixed.

We ran like hell until we felt we were far enough away from the house. Luke slid down a tree, his breathing labored as he tried to catch his breath.

"Calum, who was that guy ?" I asked confused. "What did you mean back there ?"

"That man back there." Calum started. "He is a warlock."

A Warlock ? Now I was really confused.

"Seriously who is this man, Hailey ?" Luke demanded. "And why should we trust anything he says ?"

I gave Luke a 'Watch it' look. This was not a time to be starting a fight.

"You're right." Calum said. "You don't know me. but I can assure you, I'm not here to fight."

Calum looks between me and Luke. I could tell whoever that was, they were up to no good.

"I'm here to protect Hailey. Nothing else." Calum said, my cheeks blushed as I turned my head away.

We were all silent for a long moment, before Calum spoke again.

"Look, I'll explain more once we're not out in the open." Calum said tiredness evident in his voice.

We all agreed and started our trek to wherever it was Calum considered safe. We seem to be walking for what felt like hours, until we came across a old log cabin.

"What is this place ?" Luke asked, eyeing the cabin suspiciously.

Calum walked up to the front door and looked under the mat to find a small key.

"It's mine." Calum said.

We followed him inside, the cabin itself was small but it had furniture and a small flat screen tv. I wandered over to the kitchen and sat in a chair.

"So, what now ?" I asked, Calum gave me a long look.

"We figure out what a Warlock wants with you." He said.
