LEVI IS MAKING A BAD DECISION. She has done many remarkably stupid things before in her lifetime. Too many to count, like dating Jarrod, or robbing the home of an armed police officer. Sneaking out in the middle of the night to hunt a murderer, alone, is about as idiotic as it gets.

In a brief lapse of fear, she imagines herself in her trailer, buried under the warmth of her bedsheets, and almost begins to regret coming out to the Paradise Motel for a second time.

After the discoveries that were made at the motel a few days prior, ideas constantly presented themselves to Levi, none of them anything Seonghwa would ever approve of. He had stubbornly insisted on submitting an anonymous tip to the police about the slip of paper and the strange security footage they found.

He is probably right to an extent, but relying on the police to solve everything seems to be a little too idealistic to Levi. Especially considering the degree the Cape Freewell Police Department is willing to go in order to close the case. Because of their negligence, an innocent man is rotting behind bars while the true killer is walking free on the streets like any other normal citizen.

They will continue to look for the easy way out of a tight position. It is what they do best. It is what they did for Maya's case too.

She readjusts herself in the long grass, trying to ignore the itching slowly making its way up her pants legs. She suppresses a shiver.

Bugs.

Still, she would endure much worse, do much worse, if it meant catching the person that snatched her sister away from the world, shattering her life into pieces. She steels herself and sinks even further into the moist terrain, strands of grass tickling her cheeks.

The sun has long set. Darkness protrudes out of every corner, concealing her figure from those staying at the inn. The neon signage casts an eerie glow over the parking lot, allowing Levi a clear view of any one that travels in or out.

She had spent some of the little pocket money she had remaining to rent out room 105 for the day just to wait and watch, based purely on a hunch. Seonghwa had theorized that Nancy could potentially be another target, but they both were confused by the purposeful inclusion of the name Nick West.

She had deliberately skimmed through the pages of the guestbook again, both a Nancy Bauer and a Nick West are staying at the same dingy motel on the same day. In the same rooms that Casey Jules and Robert Manning had stayed.

It is all too perfectly orchestrated and Levi is certain that the events that led to the death of Casey Jules are about to play out again. But this time, she could stop it. For once, she is a few steps ahead of the curve.
